Double Bass EUB using EQ

I have an Eminence EUB using the Fishman Pro-EQ Platinum EQ. Excellent results playing halfway up the FB from the nut--(A big 'boost' in sound quality)--from half-way upwards the sound seems to diminish. The 'hi mid' & 'treble' on the sliders on the EQ seem to have little effect. (To my ears anyway). Am I using the EQ correctly? Those of you who use the Fishman EQ do you get good results? Have you tried another EQ that is better than the Fishman? Incidentally I play through GK MB150.

If this also happens without amplification, it's the bass. Maybe a softer or thinner fingerboard that takes vibrational energy from the string?
