Y'all know there's no way I can pass up an EA thread... ;)

Having recently brought home two of my VL-208's which I had been using for vocal monitors at our practice room (I missed them), I decided to try out how the iAMP 800 handles a 2 ohm load, and fired up three VL-208's and one VL-110. Boys, it just doesn't get much better than that! With a stack of two VL-208's sitting next to a VL-208/VL-110/iAMP 800 stack, you have a more than respectable rig that sounds absolutely huge, but doesn't look ridiculously big (like some of my other rigs do on occassion :bassist: :p ).

Great gear, great company, and great people, all the way around.

Oh, and did I mention that I just picked up my official EA gig bag for the iAMP 800? They are very nice, and worth the wait.

Agreed. 100%. I haven't found anything to touch EA gear, or even come close.

Oh, and did I mention that I just picked up my official EA gig bag for the iAMP 800? They are very nice, and worth the wait.

That's cool Joker, the fit of the new iamp 800 bags are actually slightly big (or at least mine is.) With the 800 pushed against the rear of the bag, mine has about 3/4 of an inch of space around the side edges and about 1 1/2 inches of space along the front of the 800. But there is so much padding, if it does shift around in the case, I really don't think it will hurt it. I am wondering how the polymer (plastic) swivel hooks will hold up on the shoulder strap over time though?

for the past few months I've been using 1 or 2 CXL112s (according to the venue), and I'm blowing away. Total uncolored sound, both cabs together are like a "wall of sound".
Besides Mike (thanks Mike for the quick response) I also contacted EA directly concerning what EA amp to purchase.

I think I'll go for the Iamp 800, even though I never had the chance to try it out, I am certain it'll be exactly what I expect.

Can anyone compare the Iamp800 to the Ashdown ABM500 EVO for me? perhaps different beasts. I own the Ashdown ABM500 and it has been a good performer, but I sometimes wonder how much better my bass could sound if it were a little more neutral and natural sounding. But I do like the 'warmth' that it possesses. I am told the Iamp800 also is rather warm sounding. So I think it is a logical alternative. Plus, I would love to be able to drive a 2 ohm load at times. My Ashdown will not do that.

Have the iAmp800's been fairly reliable?

I bought my iAMP 800 back in March 2003 when they were first showing up at retail outlets. I've been very happy with my head paired with a CXL 12L. It's been very reliable and has not given me any problems over the past year. Gary at EA provides prompt and first class customer service and tech support. :bassist:

A Big Thumbs Up for EA!

I have the iAMP 500 with the CLX112. Last night I was fooling around with the EQ and found that if I set it flat, and set the lo mid to 640Hz and crank it all the way up to +15, I can get a mild funk wah affect. I think it has more to do with the strings but it is cool.
