I purchased one of these awhile back and have had good results using it on a gig. Anyone heard of or used this model? Sort of a predecessor to the RE-20.

Double Bass EV RE-18

The EV RE-18 is like the old broadcast standard EV RE-16, except the RE-18 has improved shock isolation and a different windscreen. The RE-18 is not a predecessor to the RE-20, but was just another member of EV's RE family of professional microphones, which included the RE-15, RE-16, RE-20, RE-50, etc.
The RE-18's low frequency roll-off, tight super-cardioid pickup pattern, well-controlled proximity effect, and good off-axis response are all desirable characteristics for micing a double bass.
In the end, if it works for you, that's all that really matters.
