Double Bass Evah Pirazzi strings megathread part I

This one's for me....

I had Eva A&E with Oliv D&G for almost a year and it's a great combination!

On the other hand I'm not sure the Oliv D is quite as *special* as the G. It's a close thing. If/when my D gives up I'll probably try an Evah for a while and see if I can live with it and save some money. The Oliv G's definitely a winner, I wouldn't part with that.

Just ordered my first set of Evahs to hopefully make my bass a bit louder. Currently using Corelli (as BobG swore by them...). Very unhappy with the Corelli's. So we shall see....

I just received a EP D&G from Quinns Strings - I generally get my strings from them because the prices are good, especially when you factor in the free shipping (@ no tax since they are out of CA), they process the order immediately so they arrive asap, and they stand by their service and products if you have any problems. Great company - I'm very pleased to give them my business.

My Juzek has Spiro Reds E&A & Oliv D&G. My spare bass already has Spiro Reds on the bottom, so I'm going to try the Evas as a "poor mans Oliv" on the top of this bass and see how they work out. I'm stealing the superflex D&G that's presently on that bass to put on my Azola EUB - which incidentally has EPs on the E&A at the moment. I'll not be changing anything on the Juzek, but now I have a bunch of combinations to play with on the other two .

Okay, sixteen months coming up. They're just not dying. I don't know if that's noteworthy or not, except in comparison to Oblis. But I'm pretty pleased that they've hung in there. They feel and sound great. Last night through the Bose stuff was excellent, but they're still really good unamped as well. Good investment for me.

I replaced my Doms with a set of Evahs today. So far, so good. The jury is still out. Gotta live with 'em for a while.
