Mine aren't dead yet, to my ears. That said, I'll probably be going back to a set of Spiros very soon.
I'll be the judge of that.Dammit.... every time I think I want to do that, I have a really good night on the EPs. It's the front of the note, mainly. I just don't think I can part with that yet, I'm addicted to it... The growl's just right, the arco's really gorgeous.... I just can't do it yet. They're not autopilot strings at all... you need to meet them halfway, and I can play more stuff on the Spiros.... but, boy, they really sound nice.

...So, we spend our money...![]()

...and write endlessly about what they sound like or might sound like on our infinitely different basses!
...but that part aside, +1 on your comment. i am going to put EPs on a "darker sounding" bass and was wondering if anyone with a bass like that was high on the EPs.
I have a reasonably dark bass. I really like the G and D, and for pizz, the E and A were great. For arco, the E and the A were a bit too muddy for me and the G and D didn't sing enough in thumb position. If I were primarily playing pizz, they would have been fantastic. Your mileage may vary. Actually, I am very interested in the EP weichs, when/if they ever come out....and write endlessly about what they sound like or might sound like on our infinitely different basses!

Has anyone tried these on their EUB, particularly a more acoustic EUB like an Eminence, or the acoustic Azola models?
overall, i prefer spiros or corellis on the MV...they just seem to work better with the electronics.
...which makes sense because the EP's have a synthetic, ie non-metalic, core.
It only matters if you use a magnetic pickup.
It's over. Weichs, full set, on the bass. I'll tell the whole tale later, if anyone is interested. Separate thread would probably be appropriate.
Bass sounds ****in' great. Thanks, Arnold & Wil.
