Yes, Evah Weich’s are my go-to set, hands-down. They are a perfect match for my bass and the sound I want/hear in my head, and on my MK Studio EUB I have Evah medium’s; also a perfect match.

I follow Thomas Martin basses on ig. Seems they put EP on quite a few basses for classical.
I think there are a handful of strictly classical/orchestral bassists here in Central Ohio who use them.
Anyone here tried the Evah Weich G, D & A with a regular E? I think I tried this combo, but I’m second guessing myself. Last time I played the Weichs, I found the E string to be a little weak. I tried them with a Spiro S42 Mitt E string, but they didn’t blend well on my bass.

My previous set of Evah Weichs had a weak E string, I tried an old spiro solo E, a helicore hybrid light, also used, and a helicore hybrid medium new. On my bass, only the helicore medium was a significant improvement but I’m a wimp and it was higher tension, so I took it off. My new set of Evahs is more balanced. Maybe the E will wear out sooner than the other strings, but for now (about a month into the set) it sounds pretty good. I do find that I have to bear down on the bow a little to get the E started cleanly, but I’m no expert with the bow…
I used both medium and light Evahs on a previous bass and the weichs with the medium E worked the best for me.
My pet theory on why you see Evahs on basses for sale is because they tend to give a dark, burnished tone on practically any bass you put them on - which is seductive.
My previous bass, unlabeled but probably a Wilfer, had a middy sound and the Evahs really helped with diminishing that, making the bass sound older than it actually was.
Random question. Any Evah users out there regularly gig with Jazz Orchestra’s/Big Bands? If so, do you find any issues cutting through or being heard? Not so much in terms of volume, but tone.
We have an Evah (Weich?) strung 3/4 bass (probably plywood, didn‘t had a closer look) at the university big band.
I dialed back the bass at the TC electronics amp (cannot remember the exact model, but higher power model than the BAM 200)
That drives a 4x10 cab and the pitch could be well heard.
I went to the listeners area at the rehearsal before a concert (we are two bass players each doing half of the pieces) and it worked well.

I put a mixed set of Evahs on my bass a few weeks back. Weich G, D & A with a regular E. After experimenting with string height and a sound post adjustment, I played a gig earlier this evening (technically last night). My bass sounded as I wanted both acoustically and through my amp.

I’m back to Evah weich with a helicore hybrid light E. So far that seems to be the best compromise for my bass and my technique.
After playing some other gigs this past weekend, all is good.
Pushed a 17 piece Big Band Friday night and the sound post adjustment really opened up both the acoustic and amplified sound.

The only thing that's still a bit weird is the A string. I'm not hearing the pizzicato attack in a group context that I hear under my ear when playing at home. It seems especially true after I've been playing a while or when I dig in too much. It's like I have to keep telling myself to play softer and not overthink my index finger placement.
Should I just assume the attack is still there, out in front of the bass, even though I can't hear it from the drivers seat?

I have only tried the solo A tuned to G. A little hard to intonate in the higher positions.
Late to answer, but I do.
I'm playing a carved Romanian bass that's about 14 years old. I play mostly jazz, plus some folk music, and belong to a 19 piece big band, along with smaller groups. My bass came with Obligato's, and I was satisfied with them, but at some point felt that I should try Spiro's. It seemed like they were hurting my left hand when playing pizz, and they're hard to bow. I play a lot of arco -- practicing, but also jazz soloing. Yeah, I know that I could work on my bowing technique and get the Spiro's under control, but life is short and there are plenty of other things to work on too.
I feel that I can be heard just fine. If I need to cut through more, I can turn down the bass knob on my amp. I actually care more about my acoustic tone, because playing at home is a big part of my enjoyment, as well as how I improve my playing. Having good natural sound seems to help me avoid developing bad habits from trying to wrestle with the bass.
So, first and foremost, I like how the Evah's sound on my bass, in my living room. As an experiment, I tried Weich's for the past few weeks, and am back to Mittel's as of tonight. I think which gauge of string works best is a matter of matching the strings to the bass. Weich's were too bright, almost twangy on my bass. Mittel's are certainly darker, but pleasant and seem to work well for me in all registers.

I’m not having any problems being heard in my weekly Big Band gig, or on other gigs. Even with loud drummers
Currently using a Fishman Full-Circle (was using a Gage Lifeline the last time I used Evahs) and I’m liking the fact I can hear the pizzicato attack through the amp.

I am experimenting with an EP solo first string and I find it surprisingly bright, but I am liking it.I’ve had Evah Weichs back on my bass for about 2 months. I actually considered trying a set of the solos at orchestra pitch. Maybe next time.

Yeah solos work best on my 7/8th with 42 3/4 string length. I might try the rest of the set.
