Eventide H9

Did anyone else do the lastest update??? Holy crap! I freaking love the compressor they are giving out!!! It's got like 15 or so different options on it and it sounds amazing! Can cover soooooooo much ground with it. The H9 is quickly becoming a one box pedalboard. If only you could combine multiple algo's at the same time, it'd be perfect.

All these free algorithms they are giving away make me very jealous!

If they ever did a 3-effect unit, like their equivalent of the Line6 M9, I would probably buy that.

The comp is nice, I always use my H9 for weirder sounds though, so it won't be replacing my mxr comp anytime soon.

Buy two?

Tried them yesterday. To me most presets sound completely overdriven. I will give them more time, but my first impression was that there is something going on that is rather weired. Most have a kind of stereo effect included that isn't part of the parameters that are offered (parametric eqs, band-eqs and compression). And what about the presets for bass? There are two slap presets that have brutal highs and nearly no low end...
I love my H9 and to give away new algorithms for free is just nice. And Eventide really seems to care about their customers. As soon as someone aks a question on their forums some of their stuff members reply. I'm sure with a bit of tweaking the new algorithm is usefull. I just found many of the presets, esp. those for bass a bit peculiar....

Has anyone used the octaver for a fuzz? If they are believable I feel like it could be an all-in-one solution. This plus a empress comp and a turbo tune on a pt nano could be deadly.

I have never really figured out the Octaver. It's something I would like to spend more time with. I'm not sure how convincing it would be as a pure fuzz, though.

The fuzz is super limited, it's there but not flexible at all.

Skip the tuner and use the h9 as your tuner. That opens up a space to use a dedicated fuzz. I use the SA OFD for max flexibility.

Also the h9 has a new compressor and eq algo so you could hypothetically ditch that pedal too if you didn't need to stack.

Even though I said above I'd like to spend more time with it, my impression of the fuzz was what you said. +1 on the tuner (from Pitchfactor experience). I really really want Eventide to make their "M9" version of this puppy, that would be what would finally make me pull the trigger.

I ask cause I recently saw this board and it got me really intrigued. But I can see the legitimacy of you're arguments. I appreciate the responses.

So I used the trial for the octave/ fuzz algo again today. I liked it more than I remembered. Especially in conjunction with other pedals. The fuzz didn't wow me, but it definitely works. Reminded me of one of the mooer fuzz I had a while ago, worked but certainly not the best option available. I liked it more for it's synthier options though.
