I'm kidding in the form of a meme-like statement, but I've heard that accusation about Prymaxe and I think it's kind of unfair to make in that manner. I don't know what the details are or who these builders are, that info should either be public (i.e., state the details and the builders) or it shouldn't be the subject of innuendo and rumor on a message board.

Also, to be cliched, there is often two sides to every story. Just because you respect those builders doesn't mean you heard the full story and/or that they were in the right. I'm saying that on principle, not because I know anything about the alleged situation.

It is public info on other forums. You could probably google search it. Also **** Prymaxe.

yeah. over on I Love Fuzz there's a thread that goes into deep detail. pretty searchable.

i know at least 5 smaller builders that got screwed over and lied to about being excluded from their never ending coupons. and shared communications where they were ignored or told it would be fixed and they didn't. it's all stuff that's online and easy to find.

i don't like giving my money to people that do stuff i don't like, even more so when they knowingly put people i DO like in financial difficulties. and then try to blow out all their remaining product from that builder after they went public on how they were treated. like Prymaxe did to SS/BS.

so.... yep. **** Prymaxe. i don't care if i can save a bit of money on things. i would never support them again. i try to buy directly from smaller builders if i can anyways.

lol. yeppers Jwarious. i bought BOTH of my H9's from them. second one right before all that stuff went down.

NEVER AGAIN.

Well, I'm not on ILF so it's not a given I would have known about this. I've heard the rumor before around here, but no solid info. Considering how recent it was, it's a little surprising there was never a thread about it on this forum. Or maybe that's out of bounds for how this particular forum is run.

In any case, I guess if I really care I will look into that thread, but again, I don't think it will be that obvious to people who just read the allusions to it on this forum. Also, while I acknowledge on the one hand that I haven't read the thread and don't know the details, I'll still point out that just because it's "documented" in that thread doesn't mean that it is all gospel truth or the whole story. Not trying to defend Prymaxe, just applying the same standard of skepticism that I would apply to any thread on an internet forum.

Like Behndy said, the Owner of Prymaxe continued to always discount pedals by SmallSound/BigSound & FuzzHugger. This is essentially a devaluation of these brands when not respecting the agreed upon MSRP. Seems good for the buyer until the manufacturer can't afford to build anymore…
When these 2 builders refused to supply more pedals to Prymaxe, the owner threatened to sue and ruin/crush the builders. Brian and Tom are AMAZEBALLS. If I am not mistaken, roughly the same situation happened with Dr. Scientist (Ryan) as well.
There is a former employee of Prymaxe on ILF that has told a few stories that will make just shake your head…The owner is a person that I will not support.

Adamie - for sure. it's up to you what you do with your buying power and who you support. i'm not at all telling you what to do.

i don't spend as much time over here on tb as i used to, but am pretty sure a mod would slap down a thread about a company like that. dunno.

again, i'm not telling you what to do, but for me i've been more than shown by people i trust and seen Prymaxe respond to builders outing them by selling their stock at huge discounts the day after they went public to know that they're a shady company that i don't want to support.

tl;dr: **** Prymaxe.

Fair enough, all. Thanks for the Cliff's Notes version. I don't know how much it will factor into my future decisions, but there it is.

For better or worse, this is what I usually go with. However, there are alternatives to Prymaxe these days, that offer essentially the same discounts, like Rogue Guitar Shop. For my last couple of "boutique" purchases I've gone with them anyway (not really related to anything against Prymaxe).

As cool as many things about the H9 are, it has always seemed to me that unless you go full MIDI or full iOS, you are lacking some of the control you could have with the normal Factor units, like using both expression and an external footswitch as mentioned above.

It's true, but it makes the smaller form and ease of editing and arranging presets still make it way better than the factors for my purposes.
