Eventide H9

I wish it had no effects in it and we got to choose the 15 we wanted to start out with. Then it would be beyond amazing.

Yeah I agree with that. The pre-loaded effects aren't necessarily my cup of tea and spending $20 to get additional ones seems like it could get expensive quickly.

I've had my eye on a Subdecay Quasar DLX for a new cool phaser toy, but then I was diving into my guitarists Mobius over the weekend and realized it would give me most of what the Quasar would (minus the step sequence stuff / random generator), plus a WHOLE lot more. But then I realized for a little more money I could spring for the H9 and open up another world for myself.

At one time it was on my "definitely buying" list, but I'm just not sure yet. More thoughts from you guys would be great!

I just got one and I love it. I can just feel the potential oozing from it.

What algorithms have other owners purchased? I already have a Pitchfactor so I won't be needing those ones as long as I'm keeping it, but I'm wondering what the essential effects from the other factors are?

Just found out you can't use two at the same time because you can only run one on a single IOS device ***! Plus if you sell it, all the algo's stay on your account and not the device. LAME! So lame!!! That's just ridiculous.

Do you need an iOS device to run it?

No, but it makes it a heck of a lot easier to navigate your presets and make adjustments.

And you can't add more algorithms (via iTunes store for $20 a pop).

How does one load new presets without a device, via USB? And how do they enforce "algorithms stay with your account not the device"?

Not sure how to do anything without an IOS device actually. Hahahah. I tried it once and got frustrated, so I just use my iPhone instead. Works great! I do love the fact that you can randomize settings in presets. That's an awesome way to get some pretty cool sounds.

I agree with Delta though, wish you could pick the Algo's. I purchased one so far (Quadravox) and plan on getting the Undulator and Black Hole soon.

Where did you hear that? You can have up to five H9's on a device and all of your purchases show up on all of your H9's. The algo's are bought from the App Store and you can't sell anything that you buy from the App Store (for better or worse).

I've got a second H9 coming next week, so I'll be able to verify that as soon as it gets here.

What it does provide, with the algo's on all H9's, is the ability to move your effects around in your chain without moving the pedals physically. Want your Pitchfactor before your Modfactor? Done. Modfactor before Pitchfactor? Done.

Just consider the cost of the algo's as a sunk cost, since you can't sell them.

I love the sound quality of this pedal. We'll worth it, as long as you get it with a discount.

yeah. i love this thing. i know i've read that the app should host up to 5 H9's, my second one is getting to me early next week so i'll try then.

it's not cheap, i'd prefer a three effect always accessible run more than one effect at a time box, but the interface is beautiful.

it truly feels like a step forward that will become a standard.

Well my second one arrived. It was bought used. It arrived tonight and I went to register it. Couldn't register it because it was already registered by someone else. Contacted the seller and he deregistered it. For some reason, still cannot register. Not sure if it is an issue with timing or what. I'll try again later tonight. Something to keep in mind if buying used.

That being said, it doesn't stop me from using it, just stops me from editing it via the iOS app.

Also loaded up the Mac editor today. Doesn't connect via Bluetooth when using the editor on the Mac. It uses USB. It seems to work fine and offers another way to purchase algorithms for those without an iOS device. There's a Windows app as well.

Once I get the registration worked out, I'll be able to confirm the multiple H9's on a single iOS device functionality.

Hoping it's just a matter of waiting a couple of hours for the system at Eventide to catch up. Otherwise, I'll just have to wait until next week when support is back in the office.

I love mine. Just waiting for them to get the ability to purchase new algorithms via pc up and running and it will be perfect.

I don't have a PC, but according to the Eventide site, that day might already be here.

We just posted new releases of the H9 Control app for Mac OS X and Windows to the H9's support page: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
The main feature in this release is that there is now a store in the desktop versions of H9 Control. You can demo and buy algorithms from Mac OSX and Windows.
Other new features in this release are:

* Added import / export functionality for presets and preset lists to desktop version
* Added the ability to enter parameter values and tempo values with the keyboard
* Double-clicking the name of a preset or preset list lets you rename it.
* Added account settings screen to show what Eventide account you're using and what devices are registered to that account

Like eventide h9 effects in a line6 m9 format? That would be so killer. I think maybe like 5 more years that could be a realistic and affordable option. Until then I guess were stuck with multiple h9s

+1 I would play a lot for this.
