You know you have been playing a long time and in a lot of bands when somebody recognizes you and thinks you played in a band you never played in. This happened to me a few weeks ago. Some lady came up to me and claimed that I played in a band many years ago that I never played in. Even after I told her that I was not ever in that band, she keep insisting that I was.
