That's the same thing that happened to me, only it was just 1 couple.

They didn't want an autograph, we just talked for a while and I saw them at our next show. Nice people.

It happens to me sometimes. I play in 2 bands and at 3 churches. I also deliver pizzas part time so sometimes I'll deliver a pizza to someone's house and they say they've seen me before. Sometimes I remember right away or sometimes I tell them I play for such and such band or at such and such church and then it rings a bell. I also get recognized at open jams too. I think it's cool and sometimes I get bigger tips if they liked my playing....I think.

Well, maybe its because we use video heavily when performing... or nobody cares lol.

I get recognized a fair bit around town, which is cool, I am appreciative and always thank people. Then there are funny times I don't get recognized, like right after a good set at a festival, the drummer and I went back to some younger folks' tent to hang and have a brew. The young couple started complimenting our band, and then asked us if we had seen the show! We were like, "Yeah, we had pretty much front-row seats!". It actually took some convincing, I finally had to close my eyes and lean my head back and mime playing some bass and then the girl recognized me. Pretty funny.

The most unusual time was when we're driving up I-95, at a rest stop in Delaware. My wife overheard a guy telling his girlfriend that he thought he recognized me from a band "he used to see in college". My wife confirmed for him that it was me. But he didn't really talk to me. Still cool.

I was recognised at the bank by the teller who probably also saw my single digit bank balance at the time. I was also recognised at the petrol station. But I currently live in a rural town of less than 10,000, the sort of place where every issue of the local paper features you or someone you know.

Anyway, the point is that I'm totally a rock star.

One guy told me I was one of the greatest bass players he has ever played with. I thought I knew the guy from High School. As it turned out we're both now bald. When I finally recognized who he was, he turned out to be the leader of a rock band I belonged to 34 years ago. When I realized my ignorance I started LMAO. I never admitted that to him. I just said thanks and remained humble.

I've been recognized at different times and in different places for assorted bands over the years. It was a bit odd, so I handled it by just smiling and thanking them, and maybe asking a few questions about what gig it was that they were at, or if we have any mutual friends, if they are a musician, etc.

In the band I'm in now though, the lead singer is super hot and sexy, funny, smart, and has a superb voice. She gets recognized a lot around town. So, I handled that by marrying her. :)
