Ever write off an entire brand?

I've written off GruvGear since trying the Fump and Fretwraps. They seem to produce inadequate solutions to problems that don't need solving with extensive marketing and then charge too much for their products

The Fump didn't work for me at all, but I usually put a Fret Wrap on most of my basses. No complaints about the Fret Wraps except I can't leave them laying anywhere or the cats get them. Fret Wraps are like $10. If I'm getting ripped off, it's not much.

Yeah I agee, the fretwraps aren't expensive but I've been buying these cheap Chinese copies instead and they are around £4 instead of £12.

They're okay but they mute the G and B far more than the A. I put a piece of card in my fret wrap to stop it bending and it works far better now. I think the problem is the same on both the Chinese copy and the genuine article

Yeah the Fump is terrible. I remember it completely not muffling one of the strings. I forgot which, since I immediately opened it up and changed the furry linings into window foam strips. Works much better now, but I still hardly use it. I nearly forgot I even had one until this thread!

I will say that I never really fully write off any pedals because sometimes I'll be wrong and realize it later. I'm very specific to the brand I purchase however, so maybe I do it unintentionally.

I don't disagree with that but I do like their gig bags

Wrote off a Bass guitar brand
after I had one setup in a big box music store. The technician said that oh the strings make noise but you won't hear it through the amp! Don't ever want to play that brand of bass again because of that poor setup. But I have since learned how to setup my own bass guitar. I can fix most problems with my bass now.

I bought a TC Electronic 450 watt bass head. Was very disappointed in the output. Did som googling and found out that the output is only about 175 watts. Apparently because the power supply can handle 450 watts they class it as such. Then the capacitor in the power supply failed. The capacitor had no markings on it so my repair guy couldn't get a replacement. I emailed TC Electronic to ask fo the details and they said I would have to ship the amp to them for repairs. It was going to cost more than I paid for tha unit itself. I could say I'll never use their products again but I have a 2x12 that is just great. So 1 bad product experience and bad service to 1 good product experience. Not a good ratio. I won't write them off but will be very weary in future

Fulltone as a whole is completely off of my purchasing radar— the owner is the worst IMHO

Do the work and look up Fulltone aka Mike Fuller on social media— so hateful and out of touch. Doesn't hurt that his circuits are garbage as well. CAVEAT EMPTOR ​

Can't see how you could rule Darkglass out at all, considering they'd 100% fix the issue on their dime. Speaking from experience here.

Most good companies do. But DG are the only company or brand that I've encountered that many issues with. After that much anyone's hesitance would be understandable

Since Fulltone's recent Facebook tirade, I'm DONE with that guy. I can't even, in good conscience, recommend his stuff as a salesman at work. Such a mean spirited, bigoted, and all around hateful individual.

I don't play Fulltone pedals and don't particularly care one way or the other about Mike Fuller as a person, but I'd be interested in reading, verbatim, what he wrote that is making so many people mad. I say this because he just posted a long apology on his Facebook. I know a lot of people have serious reading comprehension issues and are also extremely rigid in their particular political orthodoxies, so I am wondering if he was misread, taken out of context, and is a victim of mob mentality. If anybody can post his original rant I'd love to make my mind up for myself on this one.
