The time required (roughly) for a signal to travel 50 ft. is .0000005 seconds. Or does the extra signal processing due to signal degradation cause the delay?
Are you sure it's just not the sound delay of being 50 ft. from your speaker cab? That would be .044 seconds.
Quite positive. Signal degradation clearly plays a factor in the delay. The transmitter is battery powered and doesn't have unlimited strength, you know.
I'm intrigued. How can you be quite positive? Specs say range is > 150 ft. Have you done some measurements?
Line of sight. Plus, "specs" tend to be measured in ideal conditions. Most clubs and venues aren't ideal conditions.

You're saying that the signal transmission is the reason delay is experienced from a distance. Clearly, the speed of light far outpaces sound. So it's not the time of actual transmission over the air. Signal degradation doesn't make the signal travel any slower. It just means it's harder to reconstruct at the receiver. Do you have some insights into the product's signal processing and it's relative delay?
On what basis are you "quite prositive?"
Sorry I can't give you anything more technical than this: Guitarist and I both have wireless; his is some top-of-the-line professional jobby. We were doing a soundcheck and both were standing at the back of the house. My signal was delayed, his wasn't. When I moved closer, my delay went away and everything was in sinc. Therefore, I'm "quite positive" that the delay was caused by some processing delay in my signal, rather than a delay caused by me being "50' away from my speaker cab."
Nothing more that a little seat of the pants experience and common sense. If you need technical reasons for the delay (either real or perceived), I suggest you call X2.
Just want to add to the conversation that the delay I experience with the X2 seems about the same as the delay experienced with other wireless units I've owned.
Also I would think this would be more noticable with a bass that is trying to lock in with a drummer that was back onstage than a guitar playing lead or even strumming chords.
I believe radio waves move at the speed of light like captWally says and sound waves are much slower so it's got to be the distance of the player from the speaker cab that causes this.
As alway, I could be wrong.
....The only possible explanation for an actual delay difference in the units would be signal processing, i.e. the X2 taking more time to convert the received signal to something suitable for the amp...
another stupid question but, if that were the case wouldn't there be a delay whether standing close or far from the amp?
Did you swap your wireless with your guitarist's? You were playing different instruments you know, different frequencies etc. It's may I say immature to compare the performance of two wireless systems under these circumstances.
