If you put yourself out there as often as you do, expect some backlash, even if everything you post is mundane. Not that it is, it will just happen.

I agree. You post things that are open invitations for people to disagree with you. That is okay, but then you act like others are doing something wrong because they disagree with you.
There are some who will make things personal here too. That is not right and leads to ugly exchanges. There is a big difference between disgagreeing and personal attacks.
To be clear I am not accusing you (Superfreak) of personal attacks, only that they do happen here and how we deal with those says something about us.

There's bad mental and good mental. There have been some 'nicer' mental people over time. "Nice" mental people that have done good things and tried to make a mental environment a nicer place to live.

But we've always been mental because we are inherently mental. So mental that we actually believe ourselves to be a superior species, constantly living in denial and eagerly sucking up anything put forth by another inmate on the planet that strokes our collective egos.

"Planet Of The Apes" actually makes us look good in a way.

Mankind is as mental as you can get. All the while believing we're totally sane because other inmates have said so...

That's not a solution, it's a flawed observation and a weak excuse.

If you truly believe that "everyone is mental" and that is causing you some degree of harm, then it's probably best to next:

1) realize that you can't control that and

2) adjust yourself.

From now on, I will just assume everyone, including me, is "mental"!

They don't turn their damn lights on when driving in the dark or rain, because they're mental.

They talk on the phone while while negotiating difficult traffic, because they're mental.

They wear their hats sideways indoors, because they're mental.


I do things that are mental too, like using the Metric system, removing my hat indoors, and not talking on the phone in difficult traffic.

I also use rhyming slang where it's clearly not understood, because I'm mental!

I'm also mental enough to post topics in this forum, which I should have learned by now is a great way to get ganged up on about nothing.
