it whipped around and stuck into the lateral side of my left index finger. I tried to pull it out but it was in down to the bone, so I had to really yank on it to get it out.![]()

Personally, I don't use formulas to do this; I use a piece of small diameter parachute cord. Stick one end in the tuner hole; wrap it around the tuner the "correct" number of turns; and measure from where it crosses the nut to the other end. Might not be as much fun as calculating it out; but it's quick, and it works just fine - for me...
