Excellent Obscure Pink Floyd songs?

I listen to a lot of Floyd so none of these seem that obscure, especially considering many others have listened to a lot of Floyd for 30+ years now.

Like others have said go pick up Obscured by clouds or More, I really enjoyed Division Bell and Momentary Lapse of Reason as well.

Ugh.... I like the Wall, great record, but I also agree with David Gilmour's assesment of it. "The wall is nothing more than Roger Waters blaming all of his problems on somebody else"

I'm a huge Floyd fan, and really not a fan of Wish you were Here, or the Wall, I do like Animals though. I think my favorite era is after Syd left through Dark Side. Check out Live From Pompei on YouTube, some excellent stuff. Some of my fave tracks though that time are

Fat Old Sun
Saucerful of Secrets
Careful with that Axe, Eugene
Echos(great funk interlude)
Some of Atom Heart Mother

some of my picks from the early years
Meddle: pillow of winds, echoes (popular)
More: green is the color
Relics: Julia Dream, Cirrus Minor, Bike
Saucerful of Secrets: Let there Be more light- actually the whole album

Wow- really ? Wish You Were Here and Animals ? Not 'good'. That's pretty harsh.

Nearly everything Pink Floyd has done has been good, very good or excellent. But without a doubt, their sound changed after Dark Side of the Moon, to become much more commercial - and accessible. Stylistically, it simply wasn't the same band post-DSOTM, as it was pre-DSOTM. Division Bell simply isn't on the same "wavelength" as Ummagumma. Dark Side was the turning point... :hmm:

"Bike" from The Piper at the Gates of Dawn is a pretty kewl song. The trippy organ, nonsensical lyrics and odd time signature changes make it a great song imo. Not sure how obscure it is though.

So while you still have that collection, just listen to everything - and discover those hidden gems for yourself! :eyebrow:

I would, but like I said, this is every available recording of Pink Floyd.

Live In Pompeii; Soundtrack from More; Darkside Rehearsals; etc...
While I could eventually wade through it all, I was just wanting to see about anything particularly good I have have missed.

There is a lot of fantastic songs from Relics like "See Emily Play", "Arnold Layne", "Intersteller Overdrive", and like someone else said "Bike". If someone would have told me "Bike" was from PF - I would have just busted laughing.

Ummagumma is a complete acid trip without the acid ... fantastic space music like "Grantchester Meadows" (with the fly buzzing around), "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun", "Sysyphus" (near a bog?), and "The Narrow Way".

Seriously check out the first five songs from the Meddle album. They're all good candidates. 20 years ago my band covered "Fearless". We rocked it out a little and it always went over well. Pretty sure most of the audience thought it was an original.

We also did a kick-ass rockin' cover of Pigs (three different ones) from the Animals album. Great great song.
