Excellent Obscure Pink Floyd songs?

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by nutso42, Jul 23, 2012.

  1. A friend recently lent me his entire Pink Floyd collection (which seems to be every commercially available Pink Floyd recording there is).
Now, I'm already a big fan of Pink Floyd, but still I've only heard about 1/3 of their stuff.
So while I have this collection, are there any really good obscure Floyd songs which I may have never heard before?

(if it helps, favorite albums are "Piper at the Gates of Dawn" and "Animals" ..... and obviously, "The Wall")

I love 'Free Four'. Don't know if that is obscure as it did get airplay at one point.

Pretty much everything on "Obscured by Clouds" is amazing and not really well known. You can also check out "Nile Song" and "Cymbaline" off of the album "More"

I'm a huge fan of "Sorrow," but I'm not sure how popular it is.

They have some super stuff. Everything off Darkside of the moon, Wish you were here and most of animals and the wall. Early stuff doesn't do it for me quite the same.

Have a cigar, sheep, and run like hell are my fav's of the 'not everybody knows' group of Floyd material. I don't know any obscure stuff that's nearly as compelling or excellent as 'time' for example.

That song was my first introduction to lesser-known Floyd. Can't go wrong with 2 bass separate bass tracks!

You heard that one about the Bricks In the Wall? Not very popular, but is awesome.

  18. Thanks so far for the suggestions. Only a few of these have I heard so far.

But at this point, this one is the best... V

I was into early Floyd a lot when I was a teenager -- Ummagumma, Meddle, Relics, etc. (DSOTM was actually the last good Pink Floyd album imho!)

But the only tune from that early period that's really stuck with me is "Bike"
