Excellent Obscure Pink Floyd songs?

Meddle is a killer album. I would recommend every song on it.

I too am a huge Floyd fan. I went out and bought every album (I think anyway! I believe that's 14 total?) and it was the best money I ever spent.

Wow! ...you're right, they really did cover them well.
I think " A Saucerful of Secrets" has been argued to be the "heaviest" Pink Floyd album, but I think when you consider all PF albums, really "More" seems to beat it hands down IMO.

My favorite relatively obscure Pink Floyd songs are Bike, Fearless, Remember A Day, Terminal Frost and One Slip.

Regarding the last 2, I actually love the entire A Momentary Lapse Of Reason album, though I wonder how 'obscure' any PF songs can be considered after DSOTM.

San Tropez- great feel (and BTW this one turns up in the weirdest places)
Wots..uh the Deal- easy laid back vibe
The Gold It's In The...- prob my fave early Floyd
The Nile Song- heavy for its time
Fearless- fight the power
Atom Heart Mother Suite-great theme to smoke to, not a big fan of horns, but...
The Narrow Path- buried in a bunch of psychadelia is this little acoustic gem
Cymbaline- revvvverrrrrbbbb
Scarecrow- as SYD as SYD ever got
Set the Controls- i like the live one on Ummagumma
Let There Be More Light- cool bass intro, and easy!!

there's a TON of stuff to enjoy that's way earlier than the standard Darkside and forward records. but there's cool stuff later too. The outtro solo on Sorrow comes to mind. High Hopes, anyone?

anybody hear Heartbeat Pigmeat? not a bad one either. How about Come In, 54, Your Number Is Up--- an early version of Careful With That Axe, Eugene.

Fave bass line is a tie, tho between Pigs (3 Different Ones) and Money.

The first ever LP I bought was Meddle - so I'd recommend Echoes. But the albums More, Obscured By Clouds are big sources such as If, Fat Old Sun, Green is the Colour.

I saw the Floyd between DSOTM and WYWH - so again I'd add Breathe, Shine On Your Crazy Diamond. Animals seemed to have less love but Sheep is a great track.

The early stuff is so good - nice to have extended tracks - I wonder what would have happened if they'd had CDs back then - 30+ minute track lengths? But Set The Controls for the Heart of The Sun and POWR TOCH is a neat Syd era track.

Big Floyd fan here..at one time I owned everything up to Wish you were here on vinyl. Everything pre Dark side could be labelled a little obscure as none of it recieved major airplay.

I've heard it said that Roger was a fairly ordinary bassist, but to my ear he laid down exactly what the music required and had he been more 'fancy' he would have just muddied the waters..so to speak.

What amazes me about the Floyd is that they are the sole tennants of their particular pidgeon hole........we all like to compare and pidgeon hole artists and music genre's but I challenge any of you to name another band which could be said to be stylistically even remotely on the same plane.

"Summer 68" and "Fearless" readily come to mind, as does "When the Tigers Broke Free." I also dig the "Atom Heart Mother" suite.

I'm suprised nobody has mentioned atom heart mother. Very obscure, but awesome album! Also Julia Dream was a pretty crazy song. Very short, but very eerie.

Seriously check out the first five songs from the Meddle album. They're all good candidates. 20 years ago my band covered "Fearless". We rocked it out a little and it always went over well. Pretty sure most of the audience thought it was an original.

We also did a kick-ass rockin' cover of Pigs (three different ones) from the Animals album. Great great song.

Fearless... one of my all time PF songs.... (Meddle) the whole album is great!!!!

So while you still have that collection, just listen to everything - and discover those hidden gems for yourself!

Exactly. The OP made no sense to me.

It's also surprising what some of you find to be "obscure". In America we have a plague called "classic rock radio' which forces people to be subjected to the same playlist of 80 songs three times per day for the past 35 years. eight of those songs are Floyd songs, and most of those are from DSOTM and The Wall.

And I don't care what David Gilmour says, anything after The Final Cut is not Pink Floyd. It all sounds identical to his solo albums.... every one of them.
