This stuffs pretty cool, very impressive i say for being a four piece

The guitarists does all the effects with a massive amount of pedals i assume.

And the bassist is awesome, some of the stuff you just wouldn't usually expect, like finger tapping over a break down

Im not that into meshuggah, there just to repetitive for me, dont get me wrong they're amazing musicians, just not that into em.

Iv seen origin once and they're pretty sweet, their bass player is probably one of the fastest iv seen

Psyopus, listen to these guys, arpmandude is incredible.

they're strange, but damn good. can't think of just one genre.

i prefer psyopus though, and give unexpect a listen if you get the chance, 7 string beebass-er.

and i know what you mean, sometimes the harsh vocals can drown out or bring a band down, but there are some great exceptions i think. then again its all a matter of taste. can't really stand much of rush on my part tbh, as epic as they are at times

iwrestledabearonce are a bunch of trendy hipsters who can't write remotely coherent songs. Zero substance.

Pan-Thy-Monium-- Crazy old Dan Swano project
Phlebotomized-- Finnish avant-garde death metal
Korova-- Their album A Kiss in the Charnel Fields is bizarre avant-garde DM. THey love carnie music, classical touches, black metal, and even some groovy boogie parts.

Sculptured is Don Anderson of Agalloch's project and if you like Cynic or Opeth you'll adore their last record, Embodiment. Don used a lot of atonal composing methods like matrices and the riffs are just bizarre.
