but in the end you would only have… two class d amps and mediocre tone. not like you can use both at the same time right? (you dont have a ric do you?… damn ric players…)I'm not afraid to live life: For what 12 tubes would cost me, I could buy a Class D amp !

My favorite warm glow . . . .
MY FRIEND had a class d stop working and he was told there was nothing to replace because the parts were no longer made. I sold him my tube amp with bad tubes. My friend got a quote from the tech, replacing all tubes and fees, cost more than half the price of the amp.
He was asking me if he should just buy a new amp![]()
i got this, pray for me.To @TTA: I'm sorry your thread is ruined because you mentioned Class D. It won't recover. Started as a celebration, right?
Yeah, quite fitting that the “today” pic is AI fakery.
the good old days was 100% fakery.Yeah, quite fitting that the “today” pic is AI fakery.
Although I realize that most of those VH cabs aren’t hooked up.
very cool design (no pun intended). imho the best tube amps let you see the tubes. can i see the front of the amp?
Yes, because they put some effort into it.the good old days was 100% fakery.
question is, did old fakery beat new fakery?
shhhh… dont tell anyone here i said this but class d are fine. maybe better (i prefer modern digital effects for overdrive anyway).Everything is a compromise.Nothing else sounds and feels like tubes but the upkeep and weight.Class D is a lot cheaper to maintain and purchase but doesn't have the tube vibe although a few amps have made real progress in that area.I bought new in the 90s a Mesa Bass 400+ and owned it over 20 years.Changed tubes once in all that ti.e and never had any problems. Not even a blown fuse. However a tube amps is only as good as the tubes you put in it and a new set(12 6L6s and 4 12AX7s)are about 50% to 60% of the cost of a new class d wonder. I'm well into my 60s now just can't handle the weight of a tube head anymore. For those of us who can.God Bless You!
in my defence when i asked chat gpt to make the photo the dude looked more like he was leaning against the darkglass cab, and not sitting on top of it. i asked it to correct it. the original cab was also too big so i said make it stool sized. it was work.Yes, because they put some effort into it.
Even before a production budget, roadies, and a trucks, Eddie brought what was needed…

Couldn’t find an actual photo, of an actual bass player, playing an actual bass, through an actual amp, to make your point? Here, let me help you…in my defence when i asked chat gpt to make the photo the dude looked more like he was leaning against the darkglass cab, and not sitting on top of it. i asked it to correct it. the original cab was also too big so i said make it stool sized. it was work.
