Facebook

I guess I have no life because I dig FB. No life... two bands, wife, full-time job that's verging into career territory.... I guess the folks I know are more interesting than the average FBer.

I've also switched over to to the Timeline format early and I can tell you right now it's going to freak everyone out and will no doubt cause a tsunami of b**ching. I think it's incredibly cool, however.

And remember kids, like that TV show you hate that no one is making you watch? FB is free and no one is making you use it.

but am I the only one getting tired of facebook?

Not a fan anymore. I'm the minority in my age demographic (mid to late 20s). I was on once a day a few years ago, but I guess I grew out of it or something - there are some good things about it, but it encourages a lot of selfish stupidity. Nothing like having a bunch of people comment on the dumbest thing you ever said. Which invariably becomes the dumbest thing you ever said every time you post something new.

Should I wear pants today?
why do females lie...you gonna get caught... [This one comes from my cousin who stole $1000 from me]

But the problems you guys all have with Facebook aren't really "Facebook" problems, everyone's complaints almost always boil down to "I have lame friends." My Facebook feed is full of interesting conversations, observations, music, and articles... try making friends with people who aren't so lame?

Dont even go there! You know as well as I do that there is a world of difference between Facebook and Talkbass. That said, I wouldnt even be on TB if I didnt work a job that required I be sitting at this computer online all day.

I'd say the level of discourse in my Facebook feed is at a much higher level than here in OT. This place is basically Facebook Light with a bunch of folks I've never actually met. If I want silly and mostly pointless I come here, if I'm wanting thoughtful discussion and media that is relevant to my actual interests FB wins out every time.

Based on the complaints I see here, pretty sure most of them can be chalked up to "user error."

Never bothered. No desire to re-connect with most of the people I stopped being friends with in the real world. And the friends that I have now I get more than enough of in the flesh.

And at least from what I've read about it I'm not a big fan of the way they deal with privacy.

Facebook is actually a good medium for remaining connected with people, and providing entertainment. Recently I started talking to someone who I occasionally see, but not often enough since we live far away. I talked to this person a week straight via FB chat and it has been extremely therapeutic because of the wisdom this person has shared.

People who update their status every 10 seconds... "Hey I just took a dump, here is a pic!" (actually... I would probably laugh at that one...) But you get the picture. Now everyone checks in where they visited. I would never. Nor do I add many applications. I do not trust that crap. It is bad enough that facebook advertisements are based off of people search criteria. I mean, I can tolerate the "meet sexy singles in your area" as long as they provide pictures of girls in little clothing. The other day... "Meet single men." I got up and walked from my computer in disgust.
