Factory P Bass with J Bass neck?!

Just wanna know are there P bass that comes with a Jazz bass radius neck by factory default from Fender?
If not i'll need to find a way to get that, like getting a P bass body and a J bass neck from stratophere or Warmoth...

Don't forget G&L's SB-1, SB-2, and LB-100, which are all available with J necks from the factory. I think it's only standard on the SB-2 though. And you could use Fender's American Design Experience to get a J neck on a Precision. The G&L's are a much better value though IMO.

But remember Sb-2 has just two volumes: no tone control

I have that P special mentioned above. MIM, decent. It's happy with Hipshot ultralight tuners on it. I think you can find these basses easily on eBay used for decent prices.

If you want fender, the p-bass special is your best bet. It does have a jazz pickup in the bridge, however.

If you want straight p-bass and want Fender, I suggest buying a loaded precision body and a precision special neck.

I purchased one of those necks, along with a a set of vintage style tuners, and put it on a precision body I had. Best decision ever.

IMO, this is one of two holes in the Fender lineup:

1) A passive P with a J neck.
2) A passive P with a J bridge pickup.

As far as the passive P with a J neck goes, I think there may be a Squier, but the active Precision Special is as close as there is with Fender on the headstock. The Mendel P is in the ballpark, but the neck is a little bigger than a jazz neck. In the past, there was a California P, which I think was a passive PJ with a J neck, and probably a pretty fine bass since they never seem to come up on the used market.

Yea. The original P-Bass specials were passive and awesome. Jazz profile neck and passive electronics.

I had two and reallllly regret selling the last one, as I've wanted it back ever since and haven't seen one.
