Honestly once I got mine(actually two, one V1 and a V2) I stopped looking for barbershop demo vids..lol. The V2 is just as good as the original. It just has the switch that tames the highs and of course the smaller housing. I'm using my V1 because even though it's bigger the fact that it has all the connections on one side works out better for me.

I almost have to wonder if the switch was added more with guitarists in mind. I never noticed any excessive high end with my v.1

Probably. After all, this is not a bass-only pedal or even bass specific. I have the v2 and I honestly keep the switch in the centre position which is basically what the v1 is.

I did end up saving some space even with the side jacks. I kinda miss the funky layout of the v1, but it sounds just as good :)

Yeah, I never got a chance to compare both, but the ME does not feel like it has a ton more gain. Side by side, you might see a difference, but they sound very similar from waht I remember for my v1 (sold my v1 and got my me a couple days later).

How would you describe the sweep of the Gain knob on the ME compared to the V.1? For example, at which point does the enhanced gain become noticeable or obviously wider? Is it more of a headroom thing? Sorry if I'm wording this bizarrely. I haven't heard any ME clips on bass that would demonstrate the wider gain structure it's reportedly been given.

Does the Barbershop need 'warm up time'?
I sometimes feel it is not doing anything just to come back to it a few minutes later(without having changed anything in terms of settings) to find it doing exactly what I'd asked off it...
Or is that just my imagination...

I did not get a chance to compare them side by side, but to me it's very similar if not the same.

No experience with Four Eyes, but I have a question for the group. I just bought a Barbershop ME online and I'm not finding it easy to dial in the balance I want between the Drive and Sag. I can get a decent "edge of breakup" sound, but if I dig in, the pedal seems to jump too easily past amp-like overdrive and straight into electric kazoo territory. That wouldn't even be so bad except the electic kazoo peaks seem to spike in volume over the average volume level. Is that just the nature of the pedal or is there a way to dial this back? Thanks for any suggestions!

Doesn't sound right. What type of bass/pickups are you using with it?
