What I'd really like from fairfield would be an octave ... a simple two pot octave would be ideal! Maybe with a dipswitch like the barbersshop has for a little sound variation. But really just a volume and balance between dry and octave down would do!
...and an envelope filter. both the size of the Barbershop or accountant! That would be NICE!!
I've never been a fan of compressors for live use, and I couldn't slap a bass if you paid me. However, I decided to give the Accountant a shot as something to warm up my jazz bass, and cause I had to see what this overdrive aspect was all about. I can't say I like the dirt very much as a stand alone overdrive, but there is some definite magic in that little box. Not much that hasn't been said already...no noticeable noise floor (I had it at the lower settings), didn't kill my dynamics, and it sounded great at the end of my chain, keeping both pedals and playing in check without squashing the tone. Can't really compare it to any other sound, it's just quite good.
I think Guillaume Fairfield might. Have you asked him?

+1. It's just plain rude without Fairfield's consent. Especially In the Fairfield thread, where one discusses Fairfield products...not clones.
Guillaume actually considered including the schematic with the pedal at one point and has been very open and helpful about the circuit on multiple DIY message boards. I'm not sure he'd mind. Though I understand the concerns you guys have.
I have the Barbershop ME on order. Selling my v1 to a local-ish TBer. I was not really that interested in doing the upgrade but I nee more board space
Nice! The only thing that would make it better is if it had top mounted jacks.
Yeah, Especially the side power, that one kind of sucks, but, I am willing to live with a lot of BS to have a barbershop on board...

I have retrieved the image with the values on my previous post.
It wasn't aimed at DIYers, though I agree it could have helped them, but more in a way of understanding the effect itself, which I really like.
It's my favorite bass OD.
To me the Barbershop sounds bigger.
Together(accountant into the barbershop at Ratio 2/Pad 2 and barbershop vol 11 o'clock, sag 7 o'clock, drive 2 o'clock, toggle to the right) gives something really interesting neither can do by itself.
As a bonus...it is quite a useable sound at that.
One thing I seem to notice about fairfield pedals, and more so than those from some other builders(mind you...my experience in this is limited), is that they sound really quite 'organic' and 'analgue' to me. I like that!

Well, it is very transparent, as in it does not add any of its own baked-in tone. But, if you put the sag way down and drive way up, I can get a lot of breakup, but it is still on the milder side of things.
^+1 I have the sag at @10 oclock and the drive @1 oclock and for me at those settings it just adds some hair when I dig in. In the demo videos it seemed tame compared to other OD's even when it was maxed out.
I'll try those settings and see how mine behaves.
Have you found demo videos of the new Barbershop...with bass?
