And if not underneath, maybe on the side is better so you could still reach the knobs if you needed a small mid-gig adjustment....

Agreed on all counts. I wouldn't want the plugs on the sides...unless they stuffed a full featured BS into a tiny enclosure.
I don't know about underneath, I do make small changes going from one bass to another, and at least if it's on top of the board I can see the pedal to make sure the knobs haven't been bumped. But above where i currently have the Barbershop and Phat Phuk is where I'd like to put it. I just don't get why out of all the options, they thought jacks on the top edge of the pedal was the best option?

As said above, I'd like them on the sides so the 'pedal' would be narrow.
Barbershop user for a week or two. I'm so delighted to squeeze those tones from this pedal. I've been running sansamp products for a long time and finding a happy balance between the two. This is great since I sold an Ashdown lb30 some time ago, because I got tired of the EQ. I'm getting the tube tone and better control of EQ now.
Never thought the day would come, but I just sold my Barbershop v.1. I loved that pedal so much, I traded it away once and hounded the TB'er to sell it back to me until he did! It's been THE centerpiece of my sound for so long, it's going to be an adjustment. Luckily, an Accountant came up and I snagged that which was serendipitous because I recently decided I really didn't like my EBS comp. When I owned the Acct previously, it was a little redundant in tandem with my BS...now it's going to be doing double duty! Pretty stoked to have another shade of Fairfield heading my way to break up some of the separation anxiety

Needed a few extra bucks in my PayPal so I figured I could kill two birds with one stone (compression/mild dirt) with the acct. I'll eventually get another BS on the board.
Basically I had to sell one or the other and didn't want to be compressor-less.

Finally took the plunge. I've been eyeing a Barbershop for a few years...wish I hadn't listened to all the detractors - it's everything I've been searching for. Although, I guess I'm glad I held off because this always-on Modèle B is just the ticket for me!

Anyone use a Barbershop and Accountant together? Do they compliment each other well, or is having two pedals capable of low gain a bit redundant?

I had both for a while and they sounded good together to my ears. I set the BS so that my usual playing ,fingerstyle, was pretty clean and when I dug in the BS gave the nice OD/tubish break up. Then I had the accountant set basically like a dirty boost. stacking a few low OD pedals together can work out great, there are a few over in the pedal breeders thread who do so.
Got a couple of new Fairfield pedals today. Rearranging my board, and these mini-pedals will sit along the top out of the way a bit, as I'm planning on them being always-on.
Rediscovered a set of La Bella flats in some in the basement and put them on my P just for kicks.
Well...I used to love my Barbershop, but now I love it even more. It's probably in the different attack that the flat wounds have, but they work beautifully with the Barbershop. Amazing sound.

The rounds on my main bass are 4 years old at an average of 2-3 hours playing every day and I agree...the barbershop is a great fit for less top end-y basses.
I wonder what they will bring out next!
