Faith No More

Billy Gould is THE reason i started playing bass.

i can pretty much nail his "Introduce Yourself", "The Real Thing", "Angel Dust" and "King For A Day" tones on my custom Ibanez SDGR 4 string with bartolinis

id kill my mother for one of his Zon basses or to get my hands on one of those Aria basses he used...

Am I the only person that really felt "Album of the Year" was just that? Not to mention the best way to go out?

If I had to rank them I'd got like this:
AotY
KfaD
Angeldust
TRT
IY
WCA

More or less the reverse order of they releases.

I pretty much agree, but I have King for a Day on top, in fact one of my favorite albums ever. Trey Spruance played guitar (the *incredible* dude from Mr. Bungle) and the grooves just ooze, with great solos and small fills thrown in all over the place keeping things way cool. What's interesting about Album of the Year is that Billy Gould produced that...*definitely* the guy keeping it together. I love him because he's not flash but plays f'ing great bass parts for the songs.

Listening to the Midnight Cowboy soundtrack right now and think that the title song was covered on Angel Dust. And their cover of Easy like Sunday Morning was awesome too. Mr. Bungle was "white" rap done right. Ahh, I miss those days. Good times and music that helped me expand out of the beloved metal.

:D :D Yeah, Faith No More... For me one of the last great rock band.

My picking order :
KFADFFAL
Angel Dust
Epic

I never really digged Album Of The Year. A few good things, but overall, didn't grabbed me.

The whole band was great. Bordin is always a laugh watching live. he MURDERS his kit. There's a video where he breaks his left stick, the nutter.

My fave song of them, I'd go with Jizzlobber. No wait, King For a Day. Although Just A Man is awesome too... Or maybe Kindergarden... gah... Epic! Digging The Grave! I don't know... so many to choose! :D

One thing I have to point out on an earlier comment is that the song is called "Epic". The album that song was on is called The Real Things.

That said, one thing about Billy that I love and have been trying to do for a long time is that muted rythm stuff he does.

You know, where he mutes out his low E and plays the rythm on the muted string. I can do it, I always get some sort of harmonic. But that's a great technique that I've honestly only ever heard him use.
