I have a problem with the made in America stamped on a lot of these instruments. I also have an issue with making them so close as to really try and pass them off as the real thing without really saying they are not. Bad form.
However, if it was an established brand, imported or marketed as that brand and not using the original models info, then it is not much different than any other import in the vein of say Jay Turser or SX to Fender.
That being said I would possibly be so moved to purchase a nice all wood, set or neck thru stick bass for laughs. As long as Steinberger was not being blatantly ripped off.
