I have a problem with the made in America stamped on a lot of these instruments. I also have an issue with making them so close as to really try and pass them off as the real thing without really saying they are not. Bad form.

However, if it was an established brand, imported or marketed as that brand and not using the original models info, then it is not much different than any other import in the vein of say Jay Turser or SX to Fender.

That being said I would possibly be so moved to purchase a nice all wood, set or neck thru stick bass for laughs. As long as Steinberger was not being blatantly ripped off.

I respectfully think there's a big difference between copying a design ( most do, don't they?) and forging a brand name and country of origin.

Oh I know, I looked through several pages. The stuff does look interesting in terms of a wide variety of instruments. BTW, Chinese counterfeiting is not only an issue in the music world. they copy everything! Shoes, jeans, watches...you name it!

Not a good thing. I am now just waiting for someone to draw the line that SX is the same as the site in this discussion...

Correct, "technically" it's not illegal to produce counterfeit instruments in China...nor is it illegal to produce nuclear weapons in North Korea (in fact, the government backs the production) but should be illegal, on an international scale.

...And, whether illegal or not, possesion of counterfeit items in the US should be prosecuted. Regardless of someone's claimed "harmless" intentions for buying this stuff, ultimately, counterfeit items could wind up being sold as the real deal. And then, someone on a bass or guitar forum would wind up ranting about junky Gibson or Fender, etc instuments. And wind up damaging the original mfr anyway.

So...bad deal for all concerned. And shouldn't be allowed...IMO, anyway.

Do have some interesting stomp boxes. Sold in quantities of 5+. Wonder what they are copies of? Not ripping off a known brand here. Group purchase anyone?

So regardless of whether the manufacturers of counterfeit items are prosecuted, people who possess said counterfeit items should be prosecuted anyway, likewise regardless of whether or not the person knew it was a counterfeit beforehand?:eyebrow:

So people who own counterfeit purses, counterfit electronic devices, shoes, etc. - all of which can be found on tradetang (as I've read on a scam alert forum) - are all worthy of hefty fines and/or jail time for getting inferior imitations at low prices?:eyebrow::eyebrow:

I have yet to defend this site, nor will I. I haven't the intention of purchasing from this site. I am not affiliated with this site in any way.

For the final time: I SIMPLY THOUGHT IT WOULD BE INTERESTING DISCUSSION, instead of another "P bass" or "SX" or "Which OD do I buy" thread - which it has been.

Just so we're clear.

There's no need to ask - someone posted a link earlier to a forum where there were many, many testimonials from people who have been ripped off. If anyone goes on that site without realizing they might easily get ripped off, then they need help.
