Fame Baphomet vs. Warwick RockBass Corvette

From their site history page: "The pioneering spirit, passion and craftsmanship of the “Mayones family” ensure that the small business grows steadily and becomes known beyond the country’s borders." it seems they started their business at Mayones, then they made this Fame spinoff. Or maybe the Fame brand is sort of what Epiphone is to Gibson or Squier to Fender. Btw: I also read on the spec sheet that their basses bodies are slightly curved (like the Thumb, the Spector) that is another very good thing...

Why the bridge "it's just not a great one" to you? It seems a perfectly functional, top loader one, to me. I always wondered why at Warwick they started using a two pieces bridge on their basses. Lots of years ago I found their initial single piece bridges just perfect. My neglectable opinion, anyway! :)

I have had a bass or two with that bridge. I just don’t like how the saddles are designed. But it works…

The newer 2-part bridges provide 3D 4-point adjustment which is unique (superior) to any other flat mounted bridge.

You can see that this current production line is aiming for the Warwick Corvette sound as the pickups are a pair of active MEC single coils and they feature an active 2-channel MEC preamp. Looking at the price for Fame Baphomet II 4 string (€999) and Warwick Rockbass Corvette (€700-€800) why should someone choose the former over the latter?

I must mention that these Fame Baphomet basses are HANDMADE in Gdansk, Poland under the Mayones brand. The Warwick RockBass series are made in China at Warwick’s facility.

My birthday is in 6 months and I want to save up for a decent bass that is not too expensive that I’m scared to take to rehearsals/on the road but also not so cheap that it is not dependable and trustworthy.

I’m stuck between two basses:

1) Warwick RockBass Corvette $$ 4

What is everyone’s opinion?

P.S: I know my Warwick choice has humbuckers instead of single coils. I personally have never played a bass with humbuckers so from my experience I don’t know how they sound like but listening to them on YouTube they sound so much punchier and have a great growl compared to the regular Warwick RockBass Corvette 4 with single coil jazz bass pickups.

Got the warwick RB corvette $$ 4 from Thomann, it had a badly warped neck. Exchange process from Thomann was OK, and then i thought I will get the Fame from music-store.de but it went out of stock for a few months. Ultimately ended up getting a G&L L2000 made in korea 2013 model.

Amazing bass, this G&L. No regrets.

I see now that the Fame line of basses have gone through an upgrade, now they offer Delano electronics (pickups and preamp) as compared to older models having the MEC electronics.

I have a heavily modified Epiphone Tobias Toby Deluxe IV with Delano JVMC/Fe 4 neck and bridge pickups with big pole pieces, so I know those new Fame basses are going to sound killer!!!

Nice! I think there can't be much wrong with a G&L and must say, the Tobias looks spectaculair. The Warwicks are, as far as I know, known for their warped necks (heard about that before). Me, I'm very happy with my Fame Baphomet IV fretless from 2007. MEC actives, (probably) ebony fingerboard. Got it almost 2 years ago, 2nd hand for €550. Greetz, keep on rocking!
