i havent got a real story to tell about a real famous person-
however... this happened to me a few years back when I was doing nothing musically and hadn't for a very long time-music wasn't even on my radar.
I went to a huge backyard party one summer and we are playing horseshoes and such having a great time. there were a lot of people there.
there was going to be a live band in the back-40 later on in the evening; I didn't give it a thought. I didn't care either; I was having fun beating everyone at horseshoes and drinking for free all night.
many hours later, one of my friends came up to me and said that someone in the band recognized me and started telling everyone I was a famous bass player or something...I dunno. no one at that party even knew I was a musician. I never did talk to the band-it was a huge property and a lot of people there. that was the last thing I was expecting anyone to say; I hadn't played my basses in years.
I was confused; I haven't been in the scene for twenty years. I couldn't believe someone would say that about me let alone recognize me. I am a good player-apparently I made an impression to someone once upon a time. wisdom told me not to get in the way of a good rumor... so I said nothing.
anyways-
for a minute or two, it sure felt good to be 'famous' even for a passing moment in front of the crowd.
no-I am not a famous bass player. not even close. I am not even famous in my house.
unrelated footnote-
everyone who came to this party parked in a giant field out back; I left when it was dark and imagine my embarrassment when I got my Harley stuck in the grass and couldn't get it out. I felt like an idiot. if I was famous, this would never have happened.
carry on as you were...
