Famous Pick Bassists

David Ellefson from Megadeth. When James LoMenzo took over, he tried to finger play Ellefson's bass lines and realized he had to pick a pick (!) and learn to play with one.

Anyone have a source for this info?

According to this interview, the interviewer says that Lomenzo has played with a pick before. Lomenzo goes on to say that he played "a lot of these songs with a pick...to replicate the basic Megadeth style".

Jon Camp from Renaissance, one of my favorite bands and players.

Nowadays, Misa, the great bassist from Band-Maid. She does this amazing sleight-of-hand trick where she slips the pick into the crook of her first finger so the can slap with her thumb and second finger, then flips it back into playing position. She's so fast you can't see her do it, even if the camera is close up on her hand.

Carol Kaye… the lady that started it all!!

Great topic running through time to remind this book: A must read about the electric bass arrival in 50's/60's music; when buisness target were guitarists and big majority of these pionners played with a pick. This book contains a rich bibliography, a lot of detail about tunes, artists using electric bass when it was new.
And the autor website links a dedicate playlist to listen all these references.
