ok. basically im looking for songs with bass solos in them or atleast some pretty cool leads. but anyway i dont want like and solo artist solos because those are pretty obvious but actuall full band songs with a straight up bass solo thanks
When I saw the thread title, the first song to jump into my mind was "My Generation" by the Who. I've read a couple times that many people credit that song as having the first rock bass solo ever. Who knows.... awesome bass sound, though
"I'll Take You There" by The Staple Singers "Scorpio" by Dennis Coffey (well, I don't know if that tune would qualify as being "famous", but...). "Everything Is Everything" (live version) by Donny Hathaway (famous in the soul world at least...). "Nite Klub" by The Specials (kind of a bass solo, I guess).
Day Tripper-Beatles, the whole melody is really the bass being doubled by guitars in places. Money-Pink Floyd- lead bass all the way. Break on Through- Doors, I know, they had no bass player, but tell be that song doesn't have lead bass, even if it does come from the keys? Sunshine of Your Love-Cream
Pretty much any Cliff Burton era Metallica Call of Ktulu Anestesia (Pulling Teeth) Orion For whom the Bell Tolls (to name a few)
In addition to other songs mentioned Metallica's version of Crash course In Brain Surgery is pretty cool. Starts out with one then has another one about 3/4 through the song. That whole song is kind of carried by the bass.
I'm not "seeing" this one. Now I'll have to put the album on....might as well do Moon Dance at the same time, huh?
They're not super famous, but if you're into some Stoner/Southern Rock... Clutch - "Spacegrass", "Big News 1", "Mr. Shiny Cadillackness"
