Half of the songs mentioned don't have bass solos! A prominent bass part or riff does not a solo make.

and the track from Tales...either "Revealing Science of God" or "The Ancient"...I get those two confused unless I've heard them recently (hmm...maybe I should cue them up soon, eh?)


and of course, "The Fish". Heck, the whole song is a bass solo!

Lots of riffs, not many solos - IMHO. I do think - again IMHO - that some of the solo "breaks" should "count" as solos. You aren't going to see a lot of extended solo's (thank god as they usually suck) in the more popular genres.
