"Fancy" all tube bass combo???

Here's an odd query (at least for me!):

Are there any low wattage all tube bass amps on the market that have an aesthetic similar to a ToneKing or such? I have an Ampeg pf50t setup, which is epic, but I'd love to find something that's kind of 50's looking, lower volume (but fairly full range- not like plugging a bass into a Princeton Reverb) that would look cool in a mid century vibe room.

I could live with a solid state/class d/whatever rig too, I suppose....

Uhmmm.... I guess "fancy" would be one word for it.

For a builder, it wouldn't be a difficult look to cop. The amp and cab are conventionally shaped and the colored Tolex, grill cloth, and "mid-century Modern" legs are all easily sourced. The only pieces that would need to be specially fabricated are the shaped grill trim bezel pieces, and that wouldn't be much of a challenge. I have to say, it IS an striking visual aesthetic, and while I find it amusing enough, personally I wouldn't want to play something that looked like that on stage full time. For a novelty thing, oh hell yes!

Well, like I said, I want it to sit in the living room at home -but- on a cool theater stage with the right artist this would be sick!

Different strokes for different folks, naturally!

Custom built might be my only option. I have the tools and skills to do the woodwork for a cool trapezoidal cabinet but the covering and hardware would have to be sourced. Then there's the time...

Actually I bet having something like a pf20 pulled apart and the chassis, etc powdercoated could be cool as a head.... hmmm

When you said low power tube amp and fancy I thought Alessandro Basset Hound. When I looked at the picture I thought The Jetson’s. I can’t think of any production model that checks both boxes.

I think custom build is going to be the route here and at that point it really comes down to budget.

Any of the boutique type tube amp builders could make you something you like. A lot of them could also do matching one off cabinets. You’d have to know what kind of circuit/sound you’d want and that might help guide your decision.

Or look for an amp with a certain aesthetic and supply your own legs.
Inspired by the Ibanez TSA-5TVR and not having a mic stand short enough to reach the speaker.
....and not exactly the best bass amp either but hey, good luck and happy hunting.

Had I known you are into MCM, I would have given you a pair of real MCM chairs that my mother bought new in the late 1950s, a pair of Selig Z Chairs. They were great chairs, just didn't fit in with my 1917 Arts & Crafts home.

Not the original cushions, however.

Regardless, they are now with new owners.

While a bit overkill for the living room, I DO have my eye on an Orange AD200 rig someday!

The brand that instantly springs to mind is New Vintage. They even have a configurator, so you can see what you´ll end up with:

Downside is that the smallest amp they do for bass is 160w. Or you could have 300w, or a class D 500w.

Milkman comes to mind for that look. But, the heritage B15 is where it's at for tube combos.

I'd quite like to see a full Orange bass stack standing on 4 little screw-in radiogram legs, especially angled ones...

Talking of which I really miss radiograms, they were cool. Huge, but cool.
