Fancy Taco Bell!

Taco Bell's flashy concept 'Taco Bell Cantina' replacing Original Pizza in Newport Beach

Remdinded me of this

Isn't a fancy Taco Bell called Chipotle?

Agreed. Taco Bell does not hold a candle compared to real West Coast Mexican food. But it does have a drive thru.

You know, sometimes, Taco Bell is exactly what I crave. I will get three taco supremes and it hits the spot. The Doritos shells are the debil, m'kay? So damn tasty.

I don't know that I put El Pollo Loco above Taco Bell but Aldabertos, at least here in Sac, is far superior in freshness and bang for buck. Jimboys tacos are a thing of beauty. The rest of what they offer is meh.

Fast tacos right now = go to Taco Bell

Better, but slightly slower tacos = go to Fuzzy's

Great taco = go to actual Mexican restaurant or workplace food truck.

I don't see an opening in there for a Fancy Taco Bell, but good luck to them I guess.

I can eat fancy Mexican food any time I want, but some times I get a craving for Taco Bell. I'm aware that their meat is not meat, and their cheese is really just shavings of plastic, but every so often, I'm totally in the mood for it. Turning it into an upscale restaurant kind of kills the vibe.
That's the thing, though. In Cali, there must be no shortage of places that make GOOD tacos, etc. for about the same price or not much more (right?). Heck, there are a bunch of really good taquerias in Chicago.

To me, it would be like ordering Domino's in NYC. Some people apparently do it, but I can't fathom why.

ha! all fun/funny stuff!

i like taco bell for that 'urge' thing. i eat a lot of mexican food (cooked by real mexican chefs/cooks) just like you texas folks and cali folks. in both indy and cincy there are a plethora of great mexican food joints. but still, IMO, a taco bell dish can have its place.

of course cincinnati is the place where they sell "skyline" as chili. :roflmao:

It's true that there's a plethora of killer Mexican food joints in SoCal but the problem is most of them close early (before midnight) and the ones that close late AND have a drive-thru are few and far between. Sometimes, it's better to hit Taco Bell and get off the streets rather than than go on a mission to Alberto's.
