Fancy Taco Bell!

In SoCal, Tommy's was always open 24 hours, giving us an option for late night diarrhea.

I have a soft spot in my heart for Taco Bell, it has nothing to do with food.

In the early 1980's I worked for a couple that taught me a lot about business, they mentored me for lack of a better term. I was starting to do well financially, Jim and his wife suggested that I should invest in PepsiCo and Anheuser-Busch. The philosophy was that both companies had good growth and even in the worst times people still drink soda and beer. I bought Pepsi and Anheuser-Busch stock any time that I could and rolled dividends back into more stock for many years. PepsiCo split off their food businesses (KFC/Pizza Hut/Taco Bell) in 1997, I ended up getting stock in the new company, Trico Global, later named YUM. I did very well with all of those stocks. In 2000 I sold about half of my stock portfolio in order to buy a home. It ended up being a great down payment. I divorced in 2008 and sold my remaining stock to settle the divorce. The good news is that we sold right before the market tanked.

I don't drink much beer or soda, nor do I eat much fast food. (Taco Bell is my favorite fast food if I am going that route.) KFC/Taco Bell/Pizza Hut still makes me smile though, they really helped my financial bottom line over the course of my lifetime.
