Favorite 15” Speaker cab?

My favorite was an old cab with a 15” Electro Voice. I had 2 410 cabs and a Mesa Powerhouse jr (Eden 12 + 4 Celestion 8’s) but they couldn’t come close to the classic tone of that single EV. The best speaker tone I’ve ever had.

I had some single 15 " Speaker cabs loaded with 15" SRO's The power rating wasn't that high but the sound guy told to turn down al the time so he ad more control FOH. Loved those speaker cabs.

Concerning the Fender Neo 115 , buyer beware , although the description of the sound quality is very accurate, the weight on my new cabinet from GC was in the 50 pound range. Had to return it. Fender finally updated the specs on their webpage. Pretty heavy for a Neo cab ?

I just put an Eminence Kappalite 3015 in my Orange OBC115 so I am inclined to agree with this.

Agreed. Every Mesa 15" rig I've heard sounded fantastic, especially the combo amps.

Energy 115. Full range bad-assery. Still kicking myself for not getting 2 when I had the chance to pick them up for $75 each. Even so it sounds great on its own. Only downside is 75lbs.

Eden D115XLT anyone? I had one and just sold it. It was nice and sturdy but a heavy SOB!

Had a nice warm and great growl. The speaker seemed to break up a bit which gave it that nice quality. I’m sure there are better but I quite liked it.

Some years ago I stopped craving for LOW and started worrying about THICK. I find extremely low range 15s sound rather lame (as in "not mean"). As I stylistically abandoned a mostly clean tone in favour of thick crunchy base sound I developed a taste for relatively small enclosure 15 boxes, the kind you can use as a standalone cab. The absolutely winner in my (cheap) stable is my TNT150s, both Scorpions in definitely small enclosures, nice mid response (for a 15") and added cheap piezo horns. Love the solid yet articulate lowend.

I also own a couple TKOs (75&80, both Scorpion too) and both behave similarly, lots of clean volume that's also low enough and decent tone tweaking options. Only other 15" I own nowadays is a Peavey 115BXBW (Black Widow). It's far from a standalone cab and it adds very little when stacked to a 410TVX I also own (most awesome standalone cab I've had). Other than that I've owned a Hartke 115XL which I also didn't like on its own.

As for the rest of the gear world, which I'm not usually able to afford, my all time dream stack would be a couple of horn equipped Bag End S15s, exactly the kind of standalone 15" cab I love.

Carvin MB15 200w combo amp with neo speaker, plus their 115MBE ext box making 250w, also with neo, because I needed a powerful rig for outdoor gigs, and they were on sale for $805 shipped. I have to say, they're kickass.

Mesa Walkabout Scout .... both the combo cab and the matching extension cab. By itself the combo is pretty tough. Stacked, they are thunderous. They are both clear and HUGE sounding.

I was just out in the bonus room practicing through the combo. Dang. Such a great sound. Defined but BIG.

+1 for the Mesa WA 15 + 15; its killing!

Ive been contemplating a Fender neo 115. Do you like it by itself? or better in pairs?

I actually like em by themselves best, MAYYYYBE only coz I can turn the amp up more into one 115... dunno.
2 is superb and LOUD but the SB300 into just 1 x115 is surely a thing of beauty.

My only personal experience with 15's was I had a Mesa PowerHouse 2x15EV cab that just rumbled and roared the awesome tone. Sold it years ago though to downgrade to something smaller and lighter. I had no trouble getting what I paid for it years prior back out of it when I sold it.
