Favorite Band with no Bass Player?

Dandy Warhols gotta be up there. All the basslines are played on synth, but it still sounds great.

Heh, thought it might be fun to see if anyone else has some favorite bands that happen to have no bass player. My favorite band right now doesnt have one: Soulive. Allthough Neal Evans plays some awesome lines on his roland/B3. IMO, his left hand could be voted for bass player of the year hehehe.

So lets hear em, whos your favorite band with no bass player?

No one has mentioned The Muggs. A local Detroit band who's bass player suffered a stroke and only had limited use of his body. After much rehab I think he uses a bass keyboard or bass synthesizer. Does that count.

the white stripes are hardly supposed to be 'the blues,' they're detroit rock and roll. if you don't dig it, maybe you haven't heard their early stuff (self-titled album etc http://www.youtube.com/v/ht64qlnOus8&hl=en_US&fs=1&). or maybe you're just too old or you hate rock and roll

I think The Doors are a very good choice as the studio players they hired don't count as a part of the band. They're better live without a bassist anyway. So my vote goes to The Doors

Someone mentioned the bass in the doors being distorted basslines from the keyboard.
He had one of the early bass emulating keyboards, that little couple of octave thing you see him playing up top. Could sound a lot like a bass.

I just skimmed the thread and they may have been mentioned already but Hound Dog Taylor and the Houserockers spring immediately to mind. They didn't have a bass player and they rocked balls. Brewer Phillips played second guitar. He tuned down really low, though, and basically functioned as the bass player. He's playing what looks to be a Telecaster in this footage:

Genesis, esp. Gabriel era. Rutherford never was or considered himself a bass player, just played it to fill the spot.
