Favorite bass misspellings

I think it was the Goofy Gophers, who were like a Looney Tunes take off of Warner Bros.' Chip'n'Dale.

Was that the same characters with, “Shall we?” “Let’s shall.”

Apparently, it's "lake-land." Maybe they couldn't find the E key? Probably named after some dude. Or maybe they were so overjoyed at the bass they created that they didn't notice until after they'd printed a bunch of copies.

Talking to local bass player yesterday,

"yeah I used to have a Lock-Land, that was a great bass"

I guessed "lake" since the line over the A in their logo as a phonetic reference. OK so now I looked it up:

Founded by bassist Dan Lakin and luthier Hugh McFarland in 1994, the company's name, pronounced "lake-land", is a portmanteau of "Lakin" and "McFarland", the surnames of its founders.

So this could have been named McFarkin.

when INXS first album came out bass player Garry Beers name was spelt Garry Garry Beers on the album cover and he just kept it
Same when Icehouse / Flowers album came out - singer Ivor Davies name had been spelt Iva Davies and he kept it like that...

Not bass related, but on a popular buy / sell website in NZ someone was selling an old 1970's Rogers Drumkit - the person selling them obviously didn't know anything about drums and just said in the description 'old drumkit - used to be owned by someone named Roger'... made me chuckle

Even more annoying is when it’s spelled out “Sunn O)))” like the band. For the band to have done that, I suppose it’s a graphic thing, but sorry, diptwit, that’s the logo art.

Years ago on Craigslist or eBay (I forget) someone listed a guitar that included a “bag of gig.” My son and I still laugh about that occasionally.

Sounds smokable! Gonna head down to the corner and pick me up a dimebag of gig....
