It's worth your time to check out the Phil Jones Bass stuff. I've owned Mogami gold, Monster & Livewire Elite & nothing can touch his stuff.
Same for me. Not entirely sure about the "lifetime warranty", but I dont think Ill need to worry about it for another 10 years. I have the cheap one and the one made for basses and both are solid and reliable
I am sold to Phil Jones cables as well. They are rare to find, but they are perfect. When I dont have them, I go for Mogami.
My favorite cable is a fabric coated cable that I believe was made by Radial Eng. I have used it for years for practice and walk over it every all the time. I had to resolder the ends a few of times before I gave up and switched to Neurtik on the bass end.
What I like about it is that the fabric holds up much better than rubber. What I didn't like for years is that is twists up easier than rubber. However, after a few years that problem seems to mainly go away.

I'm using a rapco cable i got in 1987 that is still going strong. It had a lifetime warrantee but doubt i will ever need that.
I stole a cable from guitar center when I was 16, one they let you use to try stuff out. I still use it. It sounds as good as any mogami I've ever heard. I'm with Jimmy on this one. Copper is copper. Twist ratio, gauge, and a decent dielectric are the only thing that make a difference. The outer jacket is all your paying for otherwise. Maybe you can tell the difference if they are " gold plated" but I sure can't.
Agreed. Besides, I'll lose a cable long before I'll break it, so why spend serious money on them?

about 8 months ago i bought my son a monster cable from Guitar Center. It was the kind that has an angled plug on one end and a straight plug on the other. it was 25 feet long.
last week the central plug came out of the angled end... just popped out.
i took it to guitar center for a replacement. they looked up on the computer that i was indeed their customer. gave me a brand new one no questions asked.
obviously i don't know how I would have fared if i had been in another city or hadn't had a guitar center, but they definitely honored their warranty in nashville!
i am sold on monster cables and guitar center.

I have several Rapco's from the early 80's... no problems at all. Just take minimal care of them, don't leave them at gigs, etc. Save your money on cables and spend on something actually worthwhile.
I make those. Gold plugs on some, but it's really not necessary. But always Mogami and Neutrik. They never break.
I have some kind of cable from a local music shop that my father bought years and years before i was born, and I have other cables, but I never use em'. no idea what brand the cables is though, its really rough and worn from years of use.
A fellow tber makes them. His names exaltbass I believe. I have one of his cables and it's my favorite!
I'm still using the no-name cable I got roughly five years ago. Only beacuse the generic cable I got seven years ago went kaput when the end bent. I think mine are made by an Australian firm, specifically to be distributed by the store I purchased them from.

Rapco road hogs, mainly because they roll up nicely and have a great thickness on the jacket, I always wind up adding my own switchcraft rt angle ends to them because they never seem to be in stock when I go looking...
Not opposed to a monster or other nice brand if I can get it half price, I'm just not into paying over $2 a foot for a 20ft cable...

+1. The best quality cable made goes for no more than a dollar a foot plus $5 per end, so if you're paying more than $29.95 for a twenty footer you're paying too much. This makes an interesting read:
