Favorite Chorus

Rocktron Tsunami. Period. :bassist:

I have tried quite a few others (cheapies to boutique) that are really good as well but there is just something about the Tsunami that is killer. Try one. I can almost guarantee you'll love it.

All of these are good suggestions, IMO. However, I think it doesn't get any better than a Homebrew Electronics THC. I love it because it is very warm sounding, but is also the clearest sounding chorus I've heard. Some chorus pedals seem to just slap the chorus effect on top of your signal, while the THC really envelops your tone. Good stuff.

Is there a diff between the Rocktron Tsunami and the Deep Blue other than the stereo jacks?

If not.. I may just grab the Deep Blue for a while until I find THE chorus. I think that finding the chorus I want is going to take a long time, because I'm so picky about how chorus sounds. There's a fine line between doubling your sound and doubling your cheese...

I guess it's kind of like how I feel about distortion too. Just something else I'm picky about.

The Deep Blue has stereo jacks, too. The Tsunami has delay on top of it.

Whoops! I thought the Tsunami had stereo in's, but I guess i was wrong. Don't know why I would have thought that.

So the only difference is that the Tsunami has an extra knob for doubled delay time? What's the second switch for?

Yeah, they both have stereo outs. The second switch is to switch between chorus and ambiance (delay)

That said, I use the deep blue, and I would not sell it. I traded my old one for an SX bass, then bought another one the next day.

So wait... It's just like a regular delay mounted in the same box?

The dual switch setup features depth, rate and delay for chorus; while Rocktron’s exclusive "Ambience" control allows 0ms-30ms of carefully contoured room delay, which is great for creating a huge stereo spread or "doubled" sound.
The chorus mode utilizes a modulation circuit to vary the pitch of the delay signal. The chorus effect is produced by varying the rate at which this pitch occurs. The delay control adjusts the range in the delay mode where the modulation will occur. This will also adjust the intensity of the chorus effect.

The ambience mode is a straight delay mode with its own adjustable delay control. This control has a range from a very short delay (5ms) to a small slap echo (28ms).

This is from the Rocktron site. BTW, Rocktron customer service is AWESOME. I had a burned out Silver Dragon to fix, and I e-mailed them for a schematic. They responded withing an hour! (It was during business hours, but still!)
