Horace Panter w/ The Specials on the bass solo in Nite Klub, nice broken 7th chord where he plays just the 3rd and 7th of an E7 up high, but slides down to the b3rd and 6th, then back up to 3/7.

Chuck Rainey and Paul Jackson came immediately to mind but were covered early.

Just a question.
What is your/or anybody's opinion about using slap bass (with it's "high-pitched" pop sound) in heavy metal music. The "popping/plucking" slap sound clashes with the similar guitar tones.

To me it's all contextual and depending on the guitar line and sound...

Yeah, especially by today's standards. But it was the first thing I thought of. Guitarist Jim Martin in that band was a huge Sabbath fan. Really hard to think of too much slapping/popping in metal, though!
