FAVORITE FUZZ?

Hey Guys,

What's your favorite fuzz?

Mine is a modified creepy fingers FY-2 I tried a bunch of vintage fuzzes but this one sounds best to me on bass. It sounds like a brass horn.

I don't really have a specific fuzz which is my fav, but i have several which each has it's own voice which I love using in the right context. Swollen Pickle is just very good, MXR El Grande is great for high gain shredding and my Woolly Mammoth is just an awesome gated nasty thing. Most of my OD's can be pushed or cascaded into wild fuzz...but I think fuzz is best when it's a dedicated pedal. I don't like the buzzy / fizzy fuzz that's popular at the moment, like the MXR bass Fuzz. I'm not knocking them, I think they are great pedals, I just don't like their sound (or maybe I haven't found a use for one yet).

My favorite fuzz - it's a toss up between the last one I bought and the next one on my list!

I've narrowed it down to 2.
Blackout effectors musket and ss/bs tafm.
My year long fuzz quest is pretty much over...yay.
There are still fuzzes i want to try and down the road will get but it's a nice feeling to not be obsessed with trying to find the perfect fuzz

After going through many, I've settled on the Stomp Under Foot Rhinosaur. It has all the bass you could ever want and gets really huge/angry sounding at higher gain settings (which is what I want from a fuzz). The name really describes the character of the pedal well.

My favorite fuzz is the Pete-Cornish BD-1 because it has very fat bottom ( active bass EQ center at 30Hz ), tons of harmonics, excellent touch response, and transparence in same time.
Playing thru it is a magical experience.
At the moment, I am in negotiation with Pete Cornish so that he makes one CC-1 ( crunch ) and one SS-2 ( overdrive ) specially modified for the bass.

My fuzz preferences are very tame in comparison with many here I'm sure; I'm happy with just a touch of fuzz from Wren and Cuff's Tall Font Russian or Cog Effects' Grand Tarkin.

me too... I usually have a muff variant on my board. Right now it's a SGFX Imperial.

Though I have an Imposter, MultiDrive, BDSM, a few Elements – I haven't tried enough fuzzes to be so bold as to declare a favourite...

... I have not yet begun to FUZZ!​

Having said that ... Elements is too versatile to ignore.

At the moment, mine is the Idiot Box Cool Buzz Bass Fuzz. Things start to get lost from the low G down, but the mids are fantastic.

having been through a few fuzz pedals, i'm sticking with the malekko diabolik. cuts thru the mix and retains your bass like no other. for me, all others pale. lots to choose from. good hunting!

TAFM and Attack Goat are the two that I have going on my board at the moment. Fantastic pedals, and both have survived many instances of dirt wars. At this point I can't see myself ever getting rid of either. I might add more in - I'd love a nice muff like the SGFX Imperial - but those two aren't going anywhere.

Any muff based fuzz does me well. My favorite part about fuzz is rolling off the volume on my bass for that beefed up overdrive sound and muffs just make it happen. My current favorites are the bass big muff by EHX and the fuzzrocious gray stache

Two Brassmaster based circuits are tied for me: the Malekko Silicon B:Assmaster and the Prescription Electronics Depth Charge. Brassmasters are great at cutting through everything!!!

... And I don't see my feelings changing any time soon. The original Green Russians are hard to find and I'm super happy I got my hands on one, and it's in great condition.

I love it's simplicity and easy to use knob layout. There's really no bad settings on it. It's super rich, creamy, and crunchy sounding, plus it's got insane amounts of hair. If you want the epitome of stoner/doom metal fuzz as well as sweet hard rock distortion, this is the one that tons of the others brands/models are based on. It's incredibly versatile and there's just something about it, even though it was designed for guitar, it's so well suited for bass that you can even boost/enrich your bass frequencies with it, which is completely antithesis of the usual struggle with other fuzz/distortion pedals sucking tone out of your low end.

It lays all the modern Muff pedals to shame of you ask me. It's only down side is it's size. Pretty bulky pedal.

Unfortunately my favorite fuzz, the Fender Sublime is no longer made and hard to find! I had one several years ago but sold it because I didn't use it that much and it was very large. Great sounding fuzz though!
