Yes, I've heard the Lulls - great pickups - as are the Thunderbuckers and the ones in the Vintage Pros are really good, too. It's all quite recent that there are good reproductions available. For a long time it was just the originals and a small run of copies made by Chandler in the late 70's.

I actually thought the original pickups sounded good too, different but still good, I just wanted chrome pickups instead of black. I don't know why they put black pickups in them, I like the look of the Epi T-Birds better with the metal pickups. I like your bass better!

Les Paul Junior Tribute DC Bass. Simple, sounds good, balances fine, relatively inexpensive, and USA-made. It's a no-frills working bass.

Well, consider

There's a simple mod to get low end in all positions on those, another little mod that makes a big difference, also has something to do with the choke.

Considering what vintage EB3s are selling for today, I should have been more patient. Unfortunately, I had no clue if there was anybody back then that was doing mods. Still don’t know of any in this neck of the woods.

I bought a new Limited Edition T-Bird a few years ago, it's actually very light and has no neck dive, it was the nicest made brand new bass I've ever bought, it was almost perfect when it came in. I bought the Ebony and almost bought a Cherry the ebony was so nice. I put chrome Mike Lull pickups on mine.

I really like my ‘70 EB-3L. It’s definitely a huge departure from my Fenders, but it does it’s own thing quite well.

For one thing it has a Babicz bridge stock. It was supposed to have coil tapping capabilities, mine doesn't unless they REALLY hid it well.

Yes I have a 2019 Gibson bird and it has no neck dive. Surprisingly light and plays well. Now it’s not a slap machine like a jazz bass hit for some good ol rock with a pick it’s awesome!
