He's the best guitarist you never heard of. He wrote a song that Double Trouble recorded (Groundhog Day), had Chris Layton on drums in the early days of his band Grady, has Warren Haynes on his latest LP (Big Sugar - RPM), works out of Willie's studio in Austin, friends with the late Woody Allen, has a Gibson signature model, got his 1st doubleneck from Alex Lifeson, plays bass with Wide Mouth Mason, producer of several albums, etc.

Many years of awesome tunes to check out from that guy!

A big +1000 to Derek trucks and Warren Haynes. Derek's wife susan tedeschi is also a great pleasure to listen to. Both Warren and the tedeschi trucks bands recent albums are great examples of great guitar playing that never seems like too much for the songs.

Definitely gives bassist a lot of option.
And he can play jazz, rock, classical, electric, acoustic, synth guitar, clean, distorted,..all with masterfully.
Beautiful rhythm guitarist. His sounds are amazing. Silently & coolly controls all necessary frequency, may I said..
Does great for Improvisational Jam or structured song.
He can do great solo but not doing it all the time, not dominating the space with dominant solo guitar, not competing with the bass...

Oh and he's a photographer too. He even take pictures (including pics of his band mates) while plays onstage.. his band mates willl always have enough beatiful pics of them later hahaa... Big plus!

Everything a bassist could ask for a guitarist.. And more...:)

P.S.:
I love almost all of the guitarists mention here by everybody, but recently flashy or dominant solo guitar type of music kind of bored me.

Can't believe I left out SRV, Lifeson and Homme. The other guitarist that toured with Crooked Vultures - Alain Johannes. He seems fly under the radar but gets involved in some big stuff (he was involved with Cornell's 1st and best solo album, Euphoria Morning for one).
