Beautiful bass Ken! Just curious, what kind of strings are you using on it? Also, what's the best way to communicate with Lakland? I called and couldn't talk to a human or get them to call me back.
If you left a message, they will call. I found the best way was to send an email to the email address (Dan's) on the site. He's always gotten back to me within 24-48 hours.

I have to bump this thread again because I love the look of that 55-76 so much!
I would imagine that being so close to an SR5, which is a very high quality bass already, it made more sense for Lakland to concentrate on the 55-94. That said, an SR5 style bass with wide string spacing and a 35" scale is a nice take on a classic.

I got a reply from 'Kirk' today that was very helpful. Looks like e-mail is the way to go....they never returned my call.
You know, before reading about that 55-76 up there I had no clue that the MM position on my 55-02 was any closer to the bridge than on my Stingray 5. I was seriously wondering why the MM pickup soloed on the Lakland sounded fundamentally different than on the Stingray, and I guess now I understand. Need to really invest in that measuring tape I suppose.
I gonna do some mid eq dip switch testing tomorrow and report back. Do you guys mainly cut or boost mids?
ive never heard a setting on a lakland that i didnt like, aside from a fully boosted treble, but i never like that....this is only from playing 55-02's and jo's though...very cool 55-76 though!
Where you guys at on this whole 'strung-through-body vs. strung-through-bridge' thing? I've heard passionate debate supporting both sides of that one.

I like string-through the body. I can't give you a good argument, other than I like the tone better and feel that vibrations more.
I have my mids set at 500, but I might have to fiddle with mine since it's been a little while since the last time. I have a new setup now, and might like the 250 setting better.
Played a gig last night...feels like I need more upper mids. Tried boosting a little at 850, but that's not high enough to do it. I swear I'm liking passive mode so far. Overall though, this is one heckuva bass!
i have Ernie-ball on my 55-94 and i put the G and D strings trough the body and the others trough bridge.. first cause they're not long enough...but my "luthier" ,and his a really exprerienced one ( i'm kind of happy that he took time to do my bass cause he's really busy...)
so he told me that the difference his not gonna be huge if you have a good Angle on you bridge...
so i beleive that if your action his low you're better to get trough body to have a better angle that sits well on your bridge
so the pressure on your bridge will almost do the same effect that going trough your body.. that make sens to me... what you think?

I've done a few A/B tests, stringing both my old 44-95 and Celinder Update 5 through the body and then through the bridge. I could detect no difference in tone, feel, or anything.

I have a 55-02.
DA XL170 nickel rounds, strung thru.
I run pan biased towards the neck just a tad, bridge pup in the middle, all the tone controls +2 from the center detent...
IIRC, factory dip switch setting is 650, not 500...could be wrong.
While I love the sound of the Barts solo'd, I find they just-for me anyway-lack grunt and punch in a live mix. I think my next "gear whore moeny" will be spent on the new Lakkie pups and pre. From what I hear, these have much more "push."
