Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense
Collectible King Crimson vol 1 (Bruford/Wetton in '74...mind boggling)

I forget how tight & relaxed Zappa's rhythm section is.

The Allman Bros. Fillmore East album is in a class by itself, IMO. (The "Eat a Peach" live tracks continue it.) Just magnificent.

THEN, my picks are:
"Band of Gypsys" by Hendrix

"Live at the Regal" and the live cuts on "Live and Well" by B.B. King

Otis Redding's show at the '67 Monterey Pop Festival

"Live Dead" by the Grateful Dead, if only for "Dark Star"

The Beatles' Hollywood Bowl album (issued by Capitol, but long out of print, unfortunately)

"Live Cream" and the live tracks on "Wheels of Fire" and "Goodbye" (by Cream, obviously)

"Delaney & Bonnie & Friends on Tour with Eric Clapton"

"Under a Blood Red Sky" by U2 (still my favorite album of theirs)

I won't even get started on jazz albums...

Charles Mingus "Live at Antibes"

All participants were at *top* form. Every number was tight and passionate. There are parts that literally give me goosebumps every time I hear it.

Honorable mention:
Cream: Live Cream Vol 1 & 2
Cream: Wheels of Fire
Miles Davis: Live at the Plugged Nickel (Carter/Williams/Hancock are, for my money, hands down the best rhythm section in jazz history - at least in a live setting. )
