Never been a huge Greatful Dead fan, but obviously they have the biggest catalog of bootlegs. Has there ever been a project to go through them and put together a good combination of the best?

In name only; hate to burst your bubble, but it's no secret that the album received extensive(and I do mean extensive)studio doctoring/parts re-recording. Moving along...

No bubble burst here . . . I haven't listened to that album in decades. Your previous post sounded like you didn't know it was a live album, so very few of us probably knew what you meant. Regardless of "cheating," I still think any classification you look up will have Alive! classified as a live album, not a studio album.

It would be VERY tough to get people to agree. Besides, the sound of the band changed very drastically over the years while many songs stayed in the repertoire, how could one say a Good Lovin' from 1966 is any better/worse than 1987 when they are completely different versions?

Reckoning and Without A Net are compiled live performances but I know of no "best of".

EDIT: I forgot Bear's Choice. It's a kind of best of from the Dead's earlier years.
