Favorite live recording?

My favorites would be:

The Who - Live at Leeds (most specifically the Deluxe Edition. Best version of Tommy I've ever heard)
Ben Folds Live (if for no other reason than I was at the performance of "Fred Jones Pt. 2" where the dude from Cake came out to sing)
Rush in Rio
Dropkick Murphy's - Live on St. Patrick's Day (I need to go to one of those someday)

LiveCrime is another great one, I bought it a few weeks ago... do you also have the DVD?

Graeme

No, I have it somewhere around here on VHS though.

I haven't thought about watching that concert until I saw this thread. I'm gonna have to go buy the DVD when I have some extra cash to burn.

Live Phish, Vol. 11. 11-17-97 Denver, Co.
If you want to hear what jamming is all about - this is it!
This was one of their best shows ever from the "slow funk" era. Amazing Tweezer, gorgeous Reba, Train Song, over 20 minutes of GHOST (buy it just for the Ghost alone), Hendrix's Fire, a rocking Down with Disease, Olivia's Pool (changed later to Oblivious Fool), Johhny B. Goode, an interesting "Denver Jam", Jesus Left Chicago, a little Los Lobos When the Circus Comes to Town, awesome You Enjoy Myself, then there's some filler from a few nights before: a rocking Character Zero, a funked out half hour of Wolfman's Brother, and the smoking reggae of Makisupa Policeman.
Great for new and old phans.

Everybody seems to praise Rush in Rio so I think I must get hold of that album.
Here are some of my favourite live albums:

Frank Zappa- Live in New York
Frank Zappa-Halloween audio DVD
Frank Zappa-The Helsinki Concert
Frank Zappa-Roxy and Elsewhere
Judas Priest-Live Meltdown
Iron Maiden-Maiden Japan
Iron Maiden-Live after Death
Jaco -The Birthday Concert
Nirvana-Unplugged
Neil Young and The Crazy Horse-Rust never Sleeps DVD
Oasis-Familiar to Millions (This band sounds 100 times better live)

Phish - Denver '97 first set (can't remember the exact date) The Ghost and Tweezer jams are 2 of the best jams I've ever heard in my life - all over the place and a little evil just for kicks.
Must've been good! :p

I've always been partial to REO Speedwagon's You Get What You Play For and Frampton Comes Alive.

The Zeppelin DVD takes the cake- especially the Royal Albert Hall show.

Deep Purple "Made in Europe" for Glenn Highes KILLER rick tone.
"The Bruford Tapes" (from a WLIR broadcast) for Jeff Berlin and that Badass-bridged Jazz.
Percy Jones does some wickedly good f/less on Brand X's "Livestock".
Anybody mention "8-30" yet? I thought so...

Jaco - Honestly (solo live. not a huge recording for jaco fans)
Stanley Clarke - Live at the Greek.
Weather Report - 8:30
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones - Live Art (I like the Howard Levy phase better)

A lot of others already mentioned.

Level 42 "A physical Presence" you wanna hear virtuoso slap bass..this is the recording.
Jellyfish the "spilt milk" tour (fanclub boxset) puts Queen to shame.
The Who "live at Leeds"
Peter Gabriel "Real World" yes there's some studio overdubs..cracking album and Tony Levin Rules
Brian Wilson "Live at the Roxy"
Thin Lizzy (Live and Dangerous)..not Very Live but a great album nonetheless
ELO 2 live
Uzeb Live (cos Alain Caron is the man)
Standing in the shadows of Motown (The Funk Bros...say no more)
Kate Bush @ the Hammersmith Odeon....cos I love her
VH1 Divas..the one where Aretha out sings and out performs Mariah Carey on every level.
Joni Mitchell.."Shadows and Light"...JACO

etc

Cream- Wheels of Fire.
Jimi Hendrix- Band of Gypsys.
