Most comfortable I have ever played? The soft V profile that most newer Pedullas have. I didn't care for the way that my Rapture sounded, but I sure do miss the neck!

My Jazz (and Geddy Lee sig), SR506, Stingray.
Necks are hugely importnat, but I can play a Precision or bigger neck and an Ibanez SR wizard-esque neck. Different necks for different basses... and if the neck is moveable well enough I can work okay with it.

Impossible to pick one; there are too many nice ones. I do prefer an oiled/waxed finish on the back. Lakland makes consistently excellent necks. Mr.Dingwall has a definite knack in this area also!

4. Vintage P-bass neck on the Sting bass.
Obvisouly there is a pattern here for chunkiness.

P-Neck.
To me. neck is most important thing about bass.
If I don't like neck, will not play bass much even if it sounds good.

I have basses made with dimensions that are very close to the original Jazz Bass specs but with an Ebony board eg: 7.25" radius, 1.52" nut width, "C" shaped back of the neck, #6230 vintage frets and in addition I always specify a zero fret and the fretboard edges nice and radiused. I just love the way necks with these dimensions play!

By far my favorite has to be Lakland 5 string necks. Second place would probably be Peavey Cirrus 5 string necks. Those feel great too. But something about the Lakland neck just feels right in my hands. Great spacing, shape, and size. And a big plus is the satin finish.
