I am doing a deep dive on different Flat-wound P Bass tones.

I would love to hear some of your favorite recordings of a P bass with flats. Bonus points if you can share the gear/technique to achieve the sound.

To get things started here is a more obscure one. It's definitely not a Jamerson or Pino line. But it's become one of my favorites. Gorgeous subtle tone.

My favorites are everything Jamerson, Dunn, Cogbill played, but that's hundreds if not thousands of cuts.

So, this is one that came to mind. Scott Edwards on his 59 P, probably with the big LaBellas, but don't know that for sure, nor how it was recorded.

The list of favorite songs NOT recorded with a P with flats would be A LOT shorter...

Simple:
If Duck Dunn or Tommy Shannon played it, that's how a P-bass should sound. (Not to neglect Carol Kaye, Bob Babbitt or Jamerson.)

I was expecting to see only James Jamerson, Bob Babbitt, "Duck" Dunn, Carol Kaye, and other old school R&B bassists on this thread. But you're speaking my language as a metalhead! As much as I personally don't like Roto 77s, there's no denying that Steve Harris played all of Iron Maiden's bass lines on a P Bass with flats.
